HI all picked up a new Jayco Penguin Out-back last November. Had made a few changers to inside of cupboards to strength up changed the wheels and fitted extra stone and mud protection but I expected these needed doing when I brought the camper. The problem I am having that was not expected is the handles on the front boot falling apart. They were both replaced last February at the first service after one fell apart and then one of the replacement set fell apart about two weeks ago. They were replaced by Jayco for free but I was told by the spare parts sales person that Jayco were having a lot of problems with these handles. I have now replaced them with the type that goes on shed doors. Has anybody else had the same problem and how did you sort it out?  John C

On my Jayco I founfd the handles would work loose, I would just retighten them every now and then

Hi John C
The handles on our 09 hawk fell apart after only a few months .
I found some chrome T shaped ones at our local caravan parts supplier and adapted
them to suit our jayco . I have since seen these handles fitted to many other caravans .
Still working well .
Cheers Paul .

The handles on my brand new 07 outback eagle (among other things) never lasted for the maiden trip home from the dealer as I discovered when I noticed the boot lid was up and flapping in the rear view mirror. Luckily the external bits were still in the holes in the boot lid and the internal bits all fell in the boot! Reassembled and hand tightened it all and we eventually got home. I ended up putting locktite on the threads and finding a proper tube spanner so I could tighten the nuts up properly. Never been an issue since.
Good to see jayco have got on top of that over the last 4 years..... NOT!

A mate has 07 Swan, his boot handles came loose all the time and eventually fell apart, he replaced them with those chrome "T" handle also.
Yet I never had a problem with the ones on my 08 Swan or my Expanda.
