I have often wondered why so many members of this forum do not make an entry into the LOCATION field of their forum profile.
When reading thru the posts I find it interesting and often quite helpful to know the location of the poster, particularly when you wish to make a reply.
It stands out when reading some posts in the classifieds for example, the seller could be next door or on the other side of the country.
I reckon that it would be good if everyone identified their general location with an entry in this field that included their state.

I have thought this many a time .
I wonder what stops people from filling it in ??
Although if you make it a mandatory field , anything could get put in there and then it would get confusing thinking those people are nearby to you when they aren't .
I just don't know why it isn't filled in honestly ....

Fair enough, but we are not talking about house and street number, just your area or suburb and State. (Half of the towns or suburbs that people do put in I wouldn't have a clue what state they are in anyway.)
Also your identity is protected somewhat as we use our forum names.

With something like nearmap.com, a suburb, a pic of your rig and camper, you can pretty easily narrow down a location...

That is one advantage of being as remote as I am, anybody pinches anything, they can either go to Halls Creek, or Alice Springs.  They are the only roads out of here, I guess anyone that foolish would be caught.  I do understand the previous posts though, as pictures of a CT and approximate location would quickly allow for location.
