Has anyone got a Engel 40 Litre Combi Fridge / Freezer?

Hi swaggers.
As it says, anyone using 1 of the 40 liter fridge freezers?
If so, how is it, importantly, does the freezer part freeze the fridge part?
reason is I'm tight for space and want both fridge and freezer.

We have had ours for about 4-5 years, it replaced our 40 Engel single compartment fridge. We have limited space too, old Subaru. We have found that we can run the freezer at max (cold) and the fridge will still stay above freezing, but still cold. Running the freezer at or near max, does put a little bit more load one the battery, but no more then the old Engel on setting 5.

Forgot to add, we first used ours as a large freezer/small fridge, worked ok, but decided it suited us better to go back to the way it is in the pic in your original post. Small freezer, large fridge.

We have one and swear by it. It doesn't freeze or thaw things inappropriately. It just does what it's meant to do. We leave it set to -12.

I've had mine for a few years and agree with moeite, the freezer side works well with no freezing on the fridge side, I am happy with mine

if I remember correctly, in the owner's manual it stated the fridge side was thermostatically controlled to operate between a minimum of 0 and a max of 5 depending on amount of items in it

That only gives you a tiny fridge compartment, i would go 60ltr+ if you want dual zone.

That's a great improvement. The series I had was all riveted sheet metal. I pulled a pack of steak out to defrost and some blood leaked under the divider. It was impossible to clean and stunk until I got it home and pulled it all apart. I swapped it for an evakool soon after.

If you want something a bit bigger then National Luna have a 40 litre fridge plus a 10 litre freezer called a Weekender that has the same footprint as the 40 litre Engels. Bit pricier though.

Its gonna be a squeeze, but ill go the 40 litre. Perfect for me and mi mates in the cramped FM Volvo cab.
I like the way the center devider seals against the lid, ensuring it is fully seperated.
