EGT gauge, which one

[Cruiser 105Tvan]

Being  Men of the World, and far greater skilled than myself, what would you suggest for an EGT Gauge, Pyro gauge for the exhaust pls.
In the process of fitting a 1HDFT into a 105 S/wag. (1hz, a bit like a 2 Litre in performance.) and I was hoping you could help me make the right decision.
I think it might have to go into a pillar mounting pod as well.
I'm not thrilled with it on the pillar, they're fat enough already and the mirror doesn't help.
I'm 80 Klm. East of Melb. so I'd have to rely on Evilbay or Bursons/Auto-one etc. and I've been steered wrong in the past.
I'd really like to do this just the once.

Its totally personal preference.
I'm using VDO in mine... simple and they work. Think I even have a VDO 15psi boost spare at home.

Auber Instruments make heaps of digital gauges for different uses, thats what i use, but i am changing to an all in one engine monitor made by Madman, madman ems1 or ems2. About $250+ but can monitor 8+ things.

I have a digital one but it does not have an alarm so you have to keep an eye on it which is not ideal as EGT's rise quickly when towing up hill etc. Any I buy in the future will have an alarm threshold.

I much prefer the digital ones; so much easier to read at a glance and you can see exactly what's going on. I had a Scintex one which was a good unit, but the transducer cable fell apart after a couple of years and had to be replaced

I use a ScanGauge II, it has the added benefit of displaying four user selectable outputs, it can display and clear error codes, and has a very accurate Fuel computer.

I have 2 Redarc gauges in a pillar mount. Provides 6 different functions
EGT (with Alarm)
Boost
Water temp (with alarm)


Oil Pressure (with alarm)
Block Temp (with alarm)
External Air temp


Love them to bits once I sold my kids to pay for them.
I set the EGT alarm to 600 deg and have hit it once towing the camper up a long hill. (CRD Patrol not unusual temp)
Had a blocked radiator core and the water temp rose to 105Deg and set off alarm. Block temp never moved nor did the stupid Nissan dash temp gauge.

I have used the Auber Instruments gauges in the past, and loved them.
Can set a high alarm, at a specific temperature, then set the temperature at which the alarm will turn off once a safe temperature has been reached.

Madman is made in Africa initially for Landrovers by a landy tragic.

I am running a EMS1 in my Disco 2.

Monitoring Egt's' coolant temp, gearbox temp, voltage, hours, and oil pressure. These can be all brought up on one display or you can toggle through and monitor them all individually. It is also monitoring low coolant as an alarm.

The alert alarms for over or under range and  is quite loud and  the display will default to what is running out of range.

I bought mine from this sight in Africa approx 4 years ago with all the sensors included. Cost around $ 500 including postage from memory.

Highly recommend the unit. If you get one ensure you follow the installation instructions otherwise you will have issues with false alerts from bad earthing issues Don't ask how I know.
I am considering swapping my oil pressure to boost . Unfortunately the unit can't monitor both at the same time. Still deciding on that one or whether I should run a seperate boost gauge.
