South Sydney star Angus Crichton has had a finger amputated to ensure he's ready for the 2018 NRL season.

Crichton's manager David Rawlings confirmed the back-rower had had the middle finger on his left hand amputated, Fox Sports is reporting.
Crichton earlier this week confirmed he had signed a three-year deal to join the Sydney Roosters from 2019.

The 21-year-old had been told he needed more surgery on the digit, which would mean a three-month layoff.

Looks like Ernie has had the same procedure with his 3 fingers and a thumb.
