gday all like I may have mentioned im in the market for a jayco eagle or swan OB camper trailer.  My question is are there any other brands that are similar to this design, setup or style that I should consider? I Like the wind up hard roof with the push out beds for maximum setup size but minimum travel size.  Ive noticed the goldstream campers though they are a bit more expensive, any there any others out there I haven't come across that are good value and build?

cheers

We have the Swan OB, but when looking late 2014 we compared Goldstream, Coromal, and Golf as well....The quality of the Goldstream was above all, but at a premium...The Jayco represented decent value for money and was within our strict budget....and the family is very happy 1 year on  ;D

Jayco's are great value for money and also hold their re-sale value very well.

I found there are 4 major issues that need to be addressed for these style campers prior to heading out.

1. Dust proofing. $300-$400
2. Keeping bedding dry at bed ends if canvas gets wet.$25ea
3. Condensation under bed end mattresses causing mould. $140ea
4. Large gaps in all 4 internal roof corners allowing bugs in. $Free

All can be over come with many solutions for these problems here on myswag.

A few years ago a Newcastle company called opus were making a similar style but a fair bit cheaper. First batch made from
Plastic, later matches with fibreglass.

Goldstream and Coromal are already mentioned, so i will throw in A-Van as well, but i don't think they do off-road fyi.

Just going to correct myself here. A-Van are moving into the off road market it would seem (i thought they were on-road caravans onyl). Have a look at this members A-van and pics at the beach, its pretty neat.

Goldstream thunder looks great. Slide out external kitchen no inside cooking therefore a reduction in wasted space.  Hopefully this layout will take off with other manufacturers.

Heres a starter for dust proofing that works on my camper, though there are many variations its all the same concept and I can't take credit for the idea, all info is on myswag, you just have to find it.

Remedy for condensation under mattresses is to get air flow under mattresses. You can get a product specifically for this problem at Clark Rubber.

Keeping bedding dry when canvas is wet: I work on this myself and came up with something that works 100%. Please search through my post to find it, it also has pictures.

Blocking corner holes: Simpler than you think. Again, Clark Rubber stock thick foam, purchase enough to cut small blocks to stick up there when camped, works great and purchase enough to have a few spares.

After seeing these remedies, you may have better idea's, which is no problem at all, please don't forget to share your experiences, its what this forum is about.
