I haven't bought it yet, but going the F800GS Adventure. My father has 2 Beemers and my cousin also, long term reliability seems to be a Beemer trait.. Even if it is like owning a Jayco :) been some interesting discussion on adv bikes.

Had a DR650 for 6 years but fancied a change so traded it in for a BMW F700GS (800cc). The DR650 was a great bike and gave me no drama's in the 6 years, the BMW is a LOT more comfy and handles really well which you would expect for a more expensive road bias bike. I've only been on fire trails on the GS but it handled the loose stuff fairly well considering I had the standard "road" tyres fitted. I actually set out to buy a Tiger but after test riding a few bikes I found the F700GS was the best fit for me at 5'11.

Hey speedcomm, did you end up getting a bike?

Where are we again?

Yes I did !
It took 12 months from your post.
Ended up getting a KTM990 Adventure, wasn't what I was originally planning, but oh so very happy with it.

Had a BMW F650 Dakar as my last bike was a few years ago now. Nice to ride but very heavy. I bought it new and not long after the computer packed it in and had to get it trucked back to the dealers for repairs (under warranty). Lucky it was at home when it happened not out in the sticks . Been toying with a DR for my next bike if I can get it approved by directer of war and finance.

Good stuff guys.
I just got back from watching the Finke. Rode 4011 km, came back along the Rig Road with my brother inlaw (KTM950 Adventure).
Good as the 650 singles are, the bigger bike do the distance in comfort, but are hard work in the sand... Incentive not to drop them!
Enjoy the new toys!

Sent from the phone thingy.
