Shit, I'd sell my camper for that!
There has to be a catch or a serious problem.

Zero feedback. Only joined ebay on the 17th. Those photos were not taken in wagga. Smelling fishy

Actually it was too obvious but hadn't seen one with a Bushtracker before and therefore had to ask.  There is another one out there for a new Lotus type too.

Even at $25K I wouldn't buy a Bushtracker

What appears to be the same van is for sale here...  http://www.tradervs.com.au/detail/rv-towing/caravans/bushtracker/20-ft/245131  for $119,990.00 and located at Avoca Beach.

Looks like the fleabayer has lifted some pics and the description from other listings and 'gone fishing'.

I must be missing something here???????

Why would a scammer lift pictures off someone else's add and advertise for $25,500. OK I know the price is ridiculous but who in there right mind would pay a cent to someone without viewing the caravan in the first place?

Surely the scam is up when you asked to look at the caravan and the scammer can't produce it?

Am I missing something here or are some people that stupid ?

Cheers

They are out there.  I know a couple that paid over $10,000 for a caravan - without seeing it.  It didn't exist.

And a WA dealer's ad @ $75,990.00

http://www.quicksales.com.au/ad/2013-retreat-brampton-off-road/itemid-1000433161

And the 2013 Lotus Off Limits Caravan 21.6ft @ $21,500.00

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2013-Lotus-Off-Limits-Caravan-21-6ft/161515474011?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140106155344%26meid%3D1fdd2086e36c4c6d8452c0e64b6788cc%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D20140106155344%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D271717855081&rt=nc

About $50K under the normal ask.

If you look at the Lotus listing, in the 'People who viewed this item also viewed' section you will see links to the Bushtracker and the Retreat Brampton listings.

The usual rule of thumb applies here. If it looks too good to be true, in 99.99% of cases, it is.

I guess these thieves are hoping that some not so smart punter will send them twenty odd thousand big ones for a camper that is too good a bargain to miss out on. Or it may be something like "Sorry, my family is missing in the cyclone in Malaysia and I have to leave the country immediately. The camper is in storage but I have arranged with a carrier to deliver it anywhere in Australia for a flat rate of $850.00. Please wire $850.00 to this address and on receipt of your funds the camper will be delivered to your door. If you don't like the camper the carrier will return it to my storage facility. If the camper meets your requirements please remit the total funds immediately and the carrier will complete the delivery."

Of course there is no carrier, no storage facility, and no camper in the con artist's possession, but the gullible and greedy will fork out the $850.00 in the hope of getting a 'miracle buy'.

There were some scammers operating on eBay last year offering high end cameras and lens, sound gear and musical instruments. They were even more insidious as they hacked genuine sellers eBay accounts with good feedback ratings and used the sellers listing page with appropriate changes to suit the particular scam.

In ALL instances they asked for payment by Wire Transfer.

I worked with a bloke who got scammed this way over a hilux for 6 grand, he showed me the ad and I told him it should be $15 000 for a car like that and it sounds dodgy as, he ended up  sending the $6000 (by western union) without even seeing it coz he was afraid he would miss out. Bye bye cash and to make it worse he got a cash advance off his credit card to pay for it. It only takes one moron out there for these scams to pay off.

The scamers prey on a particular personality type...

THE GREEDY WHO ARE GULLIBLE...

Eg: If you happen to be a self-centred; greedy pig - but have wisdom and a good IQ - then you may not find yourself ripped off.

In the same way - if you're a bit of a gullible (read simpleton) type - but are generally honest and conservatively manage your money - then you wont get yourself ripped off either...

BUT - generally; if you are the type who is a greedy little piggy AND who is dumper than dirt - THEN BINGO - you are a mark for the cons...

They seek the gullible: (geez... what could possibly go wrong with this deal) whom are Greedy - (I'll just sneak away with that boiled lolly from the blind person's bag... "I am so smart and cleaver"

You get out and in to the world -- you take more @#&$. ...You climb a little higher, ..you take less @#&$.  ...Till one day -- you're up in the rarefied atmosphere -- and you've forgotten what @#&$ even looks like....  Welcome to the layer cake son.
