Jayco 2014 updates/changes

I heard this from an industry source. Jayco actually hired a renowned ex HSV engineer to design and develop their 'budget independant' suspension system on the outback range. So from what I hear/read it should be unique to Jayco.

I heard this from an industry source. Jayco actually hired a renowned ex HSV engineer to design and develop their 'budget independant' suspension system on the outback range. So from what I hear/read it should be unique to Jayco.

When I was asking, the local dealer said it was a Jayco design too.

I brought it up as I asked him if it was from a reputable company that provides independent suspension to the upper market campers.

I just recently sold my 2011 swan OB for a great price.... My friends got a price from mildura and it was $4k cheaper than Brisbane....

Swannie, we didn't consider air con. Probably should have, but we will plan trips up the Murray and watch the weather. Good things about the camper is we can leave it packed. Just add food and clothes and we are off. Also my husband has a tiny that he wants to put on the roof. Knowing our luck, we would probably smash the air con.

That is an unreal price for what you have mentioned. I reckon to get the same form Brisbane camperland you would be looking at 35-37k, I hope to order a Flamingo later in the year and it may be cheaper to order it from Melbourne and go down to pick it up.

Have you being into camperland we ordered ours through brisbane with all of the above plus fusion package, deluxe starter kit, hot water shower, fiamma awning with shade sides, extra 100amp battery, 16 inch wheels, extra gas bottle, tv, tv windup antenna with booster, cover, 120watt solar and more. For $32k.

No I must admit I haven't got a firm quote of them as yet but I do have their 2014 price lists. With all the extras Andrea27 has mentioned a 2014 Flamingo Outback form them would come to around the 36K mark.

Did you order the outback model or the standard model Swan? There is 4K difference in price between the two models so the standard Flamingo with these extras would be around 32K.

Outback versions of the Silverline come with Jayco's new independent suspension. Designed for "harsh Australian conditions", the beefy off-road set-up features heavy-duty Pedders shocks and coil springs inserted with Aeon hollow rubber springs for progressive damping.

According to Jayco, the new suspension was subject to a two year testing program and is manufactured using automotive processes including pressing, CNC machining and robotic welding.

Like the popular Cruisemaster independent suspension, the new Jayco system boosts road clearance significantly while offering toe-in/toe-out adjustment for wheel alignment.

It also comes with Al-Ko stub axles, bearing and brakes to make it compatible with Al-Ko electronic stability control (ESC) fitted standard to all Silverline models.

Yep cables, Pipes, Hoses look messy. Need to be in conduit and p clamped.

We got the outback model, if we bought off there pricing we would have payed about 40000.  Then we negotiated to about 36000, then with no trade got them to 33000.  Then went into the caravaning show in oct, and after dealing with the manager got it ordered for just over 30k.  Should be at camperland now getting the final touches, and ready for us to pick up in the next couple of weeks I cans wait.

Still debating on getting the extended draw bar or not.

Guys bit off topic but my old man bought a 2012 expand outback. It is pre-wired for solar and he wants me to rig it up for him. I can see in the junction box that the cables are there on the roof. My question is where are the other end of the cables? Is there a regulator hidden somewhere I dont know about or is it just literally pre-wired with cable and thats it? Its got a 100amp hour battery in the usual spot under the dinette seat but I can't see the other end of the solar cables in there? I must admit I haven't had a massive look yet but just wanted to ask the question.

I think pre wired means that the wires are just run

On the goldstream one end of the wires is under a little cover on the roof and the other end is just comine out of a little hole near the battery in the front boot. So i will need to purchase my own regulator and panels

Yeah fair enough, he bought the van second hand and even though its prewired for solar he's decided to just have a 200watt panel on a 10m lead instead of mounting in on the roof. He's going to leave it in the van under the bed, then when he arrives carry it out and place it in the sun. This way it will be more effective then being on the roof as generally you try and park the van in a shady place if you can.

should be a good setup once its done. Regulator will be mounted next to batteries and I will run the wires to an anderson on his draw bar, then he will have a 10m anderson extension to place the panel in the sun and he can just lock it to a tree or something to stop people thinking they like it more than he does.

That's the way I had it on my eagle that way you can park in the shade as you say.I did have the regulator still on my panels so I could use it on my ute also

Yeah I plan on putting the regulator at the batteries solely so there is no voltage drop on the panels, he won't need it on his car.

I beliwve redark does some sort of battery isolator and solar regulator all in one
