You've got adware.

"the offical survey.com" seems well known and annoying. Don't provide your details though, its a scam. It just looks at what other sites you've visited and provides that sites name in the survey to lure you in.

Scam - my computer has the same thing poping up whenever I use internet explorer and it just puts what ever site Im looking at as the survey for, got to run my antivirus and spybot later today to get rid of it.

Actually a lot of these malware things get introduced through users downloading and installing stuff they shouldn't be   So she might not want to draw attention to herself or how it got there.

They usually get bundled in with crap like browser toolbars and extensions, games, fonts, emotions and other trivial software you think will be harmless.

Other times they can propagate to insecure machines via a weakness in the browser or computer O/S when visiting a comprised site, or when used on an unprotected/infected network (like an internet cafe) so in those cases its not so much her fault.

I'm actually at home today and it's my home computer.

Only things I've downloaded lately are 77.zip as per my tablet manufacturer to install an update as I can't get the tablet on the net and an APK installer and MS2013 via a work "get it cheap" deal.

I noticed that my keyboard wasn't responding as usual (it's still rather dodgy ... I have to type very slowly for all the keys to register being touched which is less than 1/4 my typing speed and very annoying to say the least) and all of a sudden pop ups everywhere.

Running McAfee now and have deleted all (from various places) bar the MS.  Might even restore to an earlier time later today just to be sure.

Try using "Firefox" instead of ie 

x2 for going to Firefox. We were getting so many pop ups on ie that we could barely see the page we wanted  Downloaded firefox and now all is good

Run Malwarebytes and see what that picks up.  Failing that, run a thing called Junkware Removal Tool.
