Hi all
Hoping to get away for 4 or 5 days in the upcoming school holidays.  We are in Adelaide, and want to be somewhere that might be dry=ish , and only 5-6 hours drive. (I know its gonna be cold, no matter where we go) And somewhere that will keep the interest of 2 x teenagers.  We are a bit tired of doing the renmark region.  Open for suggestions -preferably cheap (-free) camping, where we can have a fire, maybe do some gentle walks, etc. suggestions please

Hi
Mt Remarkable is about 3 hours north, we were there in early August 2004 and thoroughly enjoyed the town and walking around the area.

Good campsite

Flowing water in the local creek

Good tracks to follow for family walks.

Park management were friendly people and costs were very reasonable.

Local museum and other bits in the town are interesting.

cheers

+ 1 for Flinders but if you haven't already done it, try Warraweena Conservation Park. www.warraweena.com

How about Broken Hill and there abouts some great sight seeing and art if you or the kids are into that.  Some interesting places to stay out of town.

Menindee Lakes, Silverton and a personal favourite Mutawintji National Park

Certainly Flinders ranges if you haven't been there.

You could add Arkaroola but it is further than 6 hours
