Water storeage options

How do you guys carry additional water? My soon to be delivered CT has 60 litre water tank.
Thinking ahead I was looking at the options for carrying more water. Jerry cans is the obivious but because of my background with boats I thought bladder tank.
I would your thoughts please.

We too originally only had an 80 litre tank on our camper but decided in the end to install a 2nd tank under the camper. Which was easy and the best mod so far.

I can PM you the name and number who does excellent quality tanks but he is in Brisbane.

An electric pump linked to both but suggest using a three way valve so you know when one is empty.

I'm looking at the 50 liter under body type for behind the rear wheels of mine.
The 85 liter underbody tanks is similar to the standard type a lot of CT's have.

G'day,

Before we had the CT, I put one of these in the back of the Jackaroo http://www.dolium.com.au/view?command=cman_view_webpage&action=view&webpage_id=82&pkey=dolium. The type with the cutouts for the wheel arches.
Fits nicely between the draws and the cargo barrier.
That gives us a second water storage option now that the CT has a tank as well.

Put a fixed tank in your rig...

Do not install another tank in your trailer..

Remember its 1kg per litre of water plus the tank..

The trailer will be setup to only hold th eamount of water already setup underneath.. Springs axle body ect..

When u get it, look at the tag and see what the gvm or GTM of the trailer is.. U will load in lots of luggage and or other camping gear..

You won't have a spare 70kg once every thing is loaded..

Put the tank in the car or forget the idea..

Were are you planning to go that u need lots of water??

Another thought.  A second tank in front of the CT's axle will add to the towball down weight.  Make sure you consider this when deciding on options.

We have a second tank we got made up in the Ute. And carry 1 20lt drum we use for showers that can be topped up at creeks etc.

In our previous 4wd, Jackaroo, we also had a 80lt tank in the back of the wagon.

Advantages of having them in the 4wd is that if you camp without the trailer you have water. If you are set up at camp and need to go and get more water it's can be easier to just duck out in the 4wd top that up and then transfer water across to the trailer. Also often the tanks go where the spares are carried on trailers so then you have to find a place to carry the spare.

We have a pump on the Ute that can pump water in from creeks etc and out across to the trailer. We also have a sediment filter we use before filling any of the tanks, trailer or 4wd. And a twin filter on the trailer.

There are plenty of places out west where water can be hard to get, when it's in short supply we don't feel comfortable asking to fill up. Also we have been to plenty of places where the water doesn't taste so hot, so having that extra water in the Ute can be very handy and only fill up all tanks when the water is good and in plenty of supply.
