Why are warn winch controllers mounted tilting forward?

When to measure up the bar and winch? The winch controller will sit flat ontop of the winch, but nearly every winch controller I see are mounted tilting forward?

Depends on the bar, older bars were open and you could fit the solenoid box on top, newer bars are closed in design hence the angle bracket. I'd suggest they're on an angle to let water drain out. If I was you, I'd ditch the Warn solenoid box and fit an Albright, more reliable and smaller.

Thanks mate, that looks like the solenoid I have now, the new 9.5 doesn't run the individual 3 solenoids anymore. Can't see any reason it would drain better either. The new 200 bars have holes underneath for remote mounting the controller but only if you use the wireless remote. I was going to go with the standard remote and in cab switch.

Interested in an internal pic of the new solenoid box :)

The Warn wireless remote is ok although I find it has a slight delay from button push to activation compared to the wired remote. One day I'll get around to fitting an in-cab switch.

Very nice, is the wireless receiver contained in the same unit?

I didn't buy the model with wireless , regret it now but at the time was trying to keep the dollars down.

OK, I wonder if the old wireless receiver works with the new contactor pack?

About the same price as an Albright to upgrade my xp, now when is my next trip to the US :)

Looks very similar to the alright, a great improvement on the old controller. I have a brand new one in the shed just in case.

I've been doing some research this arvo and yes it is made by Albright for Warn. I was planning on replacing my solenoid pack with an Albright but that meant a rewire. If this is a rip and replace then I'll pick one up next trip to the US.
