Have been following this all day and it is just so tragic. Hoping it isn't anyone from this forum, but regardless, wishing it wasn't anyone at all.

I am sure all of the camping community will feel sad about this.

Yep was watching it on the news this evening and such a tragic happening..Ive been to Coral Bay and Ningaloo a couple of times and it will be interesting to see what the out come of the investigations are.
I dont no in regards to the section of coast line south of Coral Bay where the incident has occured..BUT I remember snorkling and paddling on our Kayaks up near Turquoise Bay (north of Coral Bay) and one thing I did find was when there is a heavy swell and waves breaking over the outer reef  there is a such a large amount of water entering the inner reef and it has to go somewhere and such it creates one hell of an out going  rip along some parts of the reef system.
Again... feel for the kids..and such a tragic out come.

Where it happened is Elles Beach @ Warroora Station.

I am not going to speculate as to what may have happened as it doesnt help anyone.

Tragic event for all involved especially the kids. I cant begin to imagine what they must be feeling.  Thoughts are with them, the family,  the first responders and anyone assisting in the recovery of the deceased.

Yeah... We're up in Coral Bay all this week. The whole place is in shock.
I just can't imagine how those poor kids are feeling!

Ah strewth. That's no good. The reports says nothing suspicious but gosh, how often would two people drown in the same location, except in  adverse conditions?

i was just reading on ExploreOz forum a minute ago, and the people running that forum think they saw one of their wheel covers on the vehicle belonging to the people who died. to loose one parent like that is tragic, but to loose both at the same time is beyond thinking about for those poor kids

Such a tragic thing to happen, especially on what was supposed to be the big adventure! My thoughts and prayers are with them in these times.

Like a bunch of us on My Swag, our family is in the same age bracket as them. 

So it's a very salient reminder to respect the sea ( and to sometimes hug your kids a bit more and a bit longer).   The water up there is spectacular but it doesn't mean it's safe. 

Not being a strong swimmer, I recall doing the drift swim at Turquoise Bay (also at Ningaloo for those not familiar) and feeling really uncomfortable with the thought of not being in total control of where I wanted to go. There is also a warning sign on that beach that says you get out before the point or risk being swept out to sea.

If it hasn't been for me becoming unwell and caning out trip my family expected to be at this spot around now. Feel for the family/kids. And reinforces how important sat phones, epirbs and hf radio is even if you are sticking to the coast/populated areas.
