New plastic water tanks

I'm sorry if this has been discussed before, but I can't find anything.

I recently took possession of my new CT. It has a plastic water tank, I think about 140 litres. What I want to know, do you have to flush them out before using them and do the plastic tanks have that plastic taste.

As its new probably better to flush it out than not.

Get some baking soda in there or some of that babies steriliser. It comes in powder or liquid.

Either will do the trick and away you go.

Other option apart from baking soda is lemon essence

I would give it a quick flush first. It shouldn't have much of a taste to it but if it does it should go away after a while. Just check that the lines are drinking water grade otherwise it'll taste like a garden hose forever

If you live anywhere near D4D his Xmas prezzie will make short work of getting drain hole sorted....let him free after happy hour he could turn it into a sprinkler.....no dust from you on the tracks

Hey shakey. Agree with the baking soda in the tank first up.  Leave it overnight, then flush twice.  Also agree with making sure all hoses are drinking water grade but if a new camper all should be good there.  Don't worry about emptying after each trip.  Never emptied a rain water tank in my life.  Only need to consider emptying CT tank if you are filling up from a "dirty" water supply like a creek.  But better option is to filter water before putting it in.

As for being a 140l tank.  Are you sure?  What sort of CT do you have?

Last night I was having a guess over a few beers with some one else and both came to the conclusion the tank on my ct was 120 ltrs so today I flushed it and timed how long it would take to fill, it took 1 stubbie and a quick walk to the fridge for the second, then i timed how long it takes to fill a 10 ltr bucket - turns out the water tank is 80 ltrs I also threw in a bottle of liquid milton solution to give it a good clean will leave it for 24 hrs and flush again tomorrow and will time again how long it takes to fill. Can not wait until tomorrow as I love including beer in my science experiments .

Regarding the size of the water tank, I can't remember what the exact size, but I know it's 100 and something.

It is a CENTRAL COAST CAMPER TRAILER. The owner/builder Terry mention that he used to put 60 litre tanks in, but supplier has come up with much larger tank at very small increase in cost, so he has upgraded tanks size at no extra cost

OK.  Just checking the size as most tanks seem to be around the 80l mark.  Any idea what the make of your tank is?  Would be interested to see if I could fit a larger tank under my CT but expect it would be too big.

Edit - their website still only mentions a 60l tank.  Guess they need to update

I'm pretty sure the water tank I have is 130 litre. I'll do a check when I fill in next couple of days.

The tanks are are from ENMACH INDUSTRIES, Budaberg, QLD. I've had a quick look at their site and they have several sizes.

For accuracy I hope you repeated the above. Just to ensure that your measure was reliable.  I had to continual repeat seeing how cold my 12v fridge kept the beer,  I did that about 12 times to be sure....  I think you need to repeat.

For accuracy I now use the water tank to store beer and i have set up a swag under the external ct tap I have set up the drip feed on the tap to last my 6.8 hour rehydrating hibernation period and now i have it pretty well sussed out as to the capacity of the tank but will continue these tests for the next 17 years just to be sure.
Now about that 12 time repeated test on the fridge !!! do you require some tips  as 12 times is far from adequate
