Hi, has anyone stayed here? Good or bad experiences. We are going at Easter

FZJ

HI mumof3 , we have camped there a few times, great place.
I dont mind going to work, its the 8 hours  i have to wait to go home again that annoys me.

Yes, we have a couple of time.  Good spot, it's at the end f a road so no passing traffic.  Great river flats to camp on, a few rapids if that's your thing and a calm spot for lounging in.  Not much firewood around.

Marc...in your opinion, would it be equal or better than Knorrit Flat   ??

Gday Gronk,Im not mark but ill give my opinion anyway! Cundle is just different, no ice/newspaper/fire wood service.Less sites. Both have their good points.Cundle is perhaps less "polished".Just my 2c

Gronk, probably equal.  Both have positives and negs.  Although Knorrit s probably a better camp ground.

friends of ours have camped at cundle flat a really liked it cause it was quiet and they could take ther dogs, we had a picnic ther last yr and its a nice spot, with this rain we've had A.T.M  i wouldnt be going in the river because it flows pretty quick after we hav a fair bit of rain......we hav camped at knorrit flat its also nice, its bigger and more popular (i think cause u dont hav to travel on dirt roads to get ther but still just as quiet) we got chased out of the river by a snake, i liked the fact they had hot showers but ther wasnt lights in ther when we were ther which was a few yrs ago

Thanks for the replies. I checked out the website for Knorrit Flat. That looks good too. May stay there next time. It's good to get good reviews when you take a chance and book something randomly, not knowing any one who has stayed there.

Mumof3, if you like that style of place and the area, you'll like Riverwood Downs too.

fyi - owners sell $10 generous barrow loads of good timber.

Camping is either up on the top of the flood levee - a few generous 'sites' with basic lean-to shelters and picnic tables. Or down at river level and closer to the river. There are hot showers and flushing loos. Owners very hospitable. Recommended. There is a 'back way' to get through (westward) to Thunderbolt's Way and access Barrington Tops area, you need to ask for gate keys and very river level dependant. Owner can also direct you to a simple trail drive at back of their property for views (don't expect anything challenging). We toured the Dingo SF nearby - very scenic drive with firetower lookout, well formed forestry trails - maybe something challenging if you spear off into old haul-out tracks (we didn't).

As others posted, the calm pool above the rapids is good canoeing. Rapids directly in front of campground are endless fun for the kids - don't attempt with a boogie board if you value your kneecaps.

Like many of the Glouscester region private campgrounds, just smaller and less commercialised (and like Knorrit Flat, longer though very scenic drive from Sydney, compared to camping south of Gloucester).

Excellent campsite we went there a couple of months ago

As Finners said for $10 you get great fire wood and the ownes were even nice enough to lend me there block splitter because I left mine at home

As for the campsite get something along the river then along the top, they also have a great shower and toilet block. We use to go to river wood downs but this place is a lot quieter

I don't have any good picks as the wife just took pictures of the son but in the picture the river is about 50m from our camp

I will put the hard word on LB and see how I go.

Perhaps I could even maintain my current job for a while.

I guess it will all depend on the income stream from the property. I can see myself working all week, and doing site maintenance on weekends until such time as the income was sufficient. Also, you'd need to look at the buildings etc onsite to see if they are in need of repair..

Looking at the photos, its a great spot...
