Hey John welcome to Myswag. Sounds like you're looking for a soft floor extenda style camper like the Customline walkup.
I owe, I owe, it's off to work I go...

G'day John & Family,

To Myswag.
Sure is a lot of different setups to look out.
I mentioned to stalker, maybe hire a couple of different setups. You'll be able to work out what works for you guys.
Good luck with id all.

Welcome to the Forum John, a soft floor would be my pick and as D4D mentioned a walk up breed. Keep your eye on the classifieds as there are some good well set up deals showing up, best of luck with the decision

Welcome John.....it's very addictive this forum.

Heaps & heaps of info on here.

What sort of budget are you looking at and what modifications?

As spreadsheet of needs & wants is always a  good place to start.

It's a personal decision in the end on what you prefer.

I'm another vote for the Customlines too.  Great quality & customer service.  Ours is the 12ft off road with annexe and we sleep our three teenagers in there just fine, as the door is near the bed end not in the middle.

Good luck with your search.

G'day & Welcome John.

I agree with earlier comments, a walkway style soft floor is probably going to work best for you, though depending on the age of your children a hardfloor and extra room might do it if the older kids are keen to sleep in their own tent/swag.

The real advantage of the walkway soft floor campers is the storage they provide; enough for the clothes, bedding and food that a large family requires. I'd recommend having a look at Complete Campsite and Trackabout.

I would also advise you to stay away from getting the biggest tent possible; it seems like a great idea until you try to put it up, on your own, and then away or try to fit onto a caravan park site. I believe you can fit into a 10' tent easily, and maybe stretch to 12' if you must. The bigger the tent the heavier it is.
