Maîneÿ . . .

A local man has been taken to Hospital in Perth when the generator he was refueling exploded in flames due to the fuel vapors igniting when settling on the hot generator

A google search will see more similar situations, as a solar user I was unaware of the dangers of this magnitude with generators  :'(

Common knowledge, don't refuel a hot motor...

+1.  I've lost count for the number of safety alerts I've seen about it over the years.

Probably about the same number for using generators in non-ventilated areas.
Do not PM me for technical advice - start a thread.

I saw a grey nomad refueling his gennie whilst it was running up in Myall Lakes a fortnight ago. He looked very oblivious to the dangers.

also see what happens when you use a cigarette lighter whilst refuelling!

Dulhunty river Cape York 2003, a guy pulls up and starts putting fuel from a Jerry can into his cruiser.

It ignites and sends a ball of flame up hits his 2 gas bottles and they go off shooting into the air.

Campers ran for their lives. The bloke was taken into the water for his severe burns. He was then taken to heathlands ranger station and flown to hospital.

Aparantly the car is still there somewhere.

I always worry when refueling my mower. It is practically impossible to fill it without some splashing around, from around the nozzle of the jerry can or overflow.
