Sydney - Bundaberg in July - recommend some places?

Hi all,

we are travelling from sydney to bundaberg for a family get together in july and was planning on talking a week to get up and a week back. Was looking for some recommendations for places to visit / stay along the way.
Planning on going inland up the new england highway through kingaroy and across to the coast.
Will try and get to at least glenn innes on day 1 so we can spend more time in areas we have not been before.
We like camping in national parks etc but need min of a loo as we have 2 kids under 5
The trackabout is keen to get out of the garage !

It's out of the town a bit but they have excellent security, so I think not 

Can't even go in there with a mobile phone or a camera either
They say is because of the volatility of the molasses under pressure and heat, but I secretly believe they don't want you taking photos
