40 is good to listen too as the truckies use it. In forestry areas where logging is in progress there are normally signs to let you know what channel to be on.

Rembrring that channels 1-8 are repeater channels and 31-38 and 71-78 are the input to the repeater channels
22 and 23 are for data transmition and 62,62,63 are not to be used

We have the scanner function set to 10, 18 and 40. If near a city I turn it off. Can not stand the language.
Out west wide load escorts use channel 40 and usually will let you know what is coming.  Kevin

As Silvo said, we've mostly used 17 for MySwag events, but I scan 16, 17, 18 & 40 when traveling, except in the major cities likle Sydney when 40 is useless due to all the boofheads.

Add to that that 5 and 35 are supposed to be emergency channels...  Not sure if there are more emergency channels with the new 80 channel system

Hi Pacs
Thanks for that URL, I have just been and had a look at it, and great information.  I run a new TX 4400, programmed to 80 channels already, and have contacted ACMA for a new licence, as I also have a Barrett 2050 with auto tune, with a Remote Licence and RFDS Registration.
