Am thinking of buying a new 4WD and I would love to hear any opinions on rust prevention, electronic or otherwise please.  Kirky.

Ditto the Couplertec
I also use the old sheeps back Lanotec sprayed on the exposed underbits prior to heading off
the vehicle had been checmically rustproofed (Ming) when I bought it
Before a long spell beach camping give the outside a good wash and polish EVERYTHING
(but don't clean the inside till you get back)

I'm yet to be convinced of the electronic rust prevention things, I have seen rust starting right next to one of those gadgets and that was on a near new car! ???  I'm a panelbeater so I get to see a bit of rust in my job and it mostly occurs where water and dust settle, ie in the bottom of panels, so just make sure to keep the drain holes clean. Liquid rust proofing(lanolin, wax fish oil etc.) puts a coating on the inner surfaces which works well. It also helps if the factory puts enough paint on it to start with too. Ford was having to do a lot of warranty work in the last five years or so because they just hadn't painted their cars properly!

Still not convinced that electronic systems actually do anything.

I'd get the truck chemically rustproofed personally.
Do not PM me for technical advice - start a thread.

I swear by Lanotec.  Our beloved Jackaroo went to Straddie many times over the years and never had any rust in it.  Also smells damn site better than the Fish oil.  Unless you're going fishing.  ;-)

for electronic rust measures to work correctly it has to be a good unit and matched to the size of the vehicle and installed correctly is all I'm saying
