Whats a good lube for zip's

Probably been asked a few zillion times but what is the best lube for putting on zippers to keep them sliding nicely.

I use Silicon Spray.....Worked very well for the Clears on my boat also......

Do you reckon a graphite dry lube would work or be to dirty , The only reason i ask is i can get heaps of that from work  ha ha

You can use a dry liquid based cleaner, be careful with regards of getting it on the stitching, for some lubricants can damage the stitching holding the zipper, so eventually under strain the zipper will pull away from the stitching.....not a good look.
 Some of the lubricants tht are used on zippers like WD40 etc, can attract grit / dirt /grime to the zipper and over time will damage the zipper or may cause misalignment.
A good quality non chemical based wax such as Bees Wax applied sparingly to the zipper will be a good lube.

Yep silicone spray.. make sure it does not have other additives - just silicone...

Also can get from swimming pool shops..

look's like i will give a candle a go ha ha, then try some silicon spray on another zipper and see whats good.

Drylube. Keep away from anything waxy or sticky or they'll just keep getting crap on them.

Yeah, the lead pencil works due to the graphite in it. So graphite powder is good too.

Somewhere there is a thread on this topic... I've done a search but can't find it.... thoughts then were to be careful of silicone type product as too much (how much is that?) can make the zip too well lubricated to the point where the teeth just won't grab!    Happened to us with the result that a new zip was required.
Now we just carry an old toothbrush to clean any crap or dust out of it and a tube of the zip lube stuff in case things get really tough.  Careful use of the zip is probably one of the best preventatives IMHO.

Silicon spray is the best as it doesn't attract dust, use it on my zippers....

When using on zippers, use extension tube and avoid overspraying onto fabric as it may mark the material
Ezy Glide may not be compatible with some plastics, so it is recommended that the product be tested first in an inconspicuous area, before applying to plastic objects.
Ezy Glide produces a slippery coating and care should be taken to avoid over-spraying onto floors.
Handy tips

Shake can well.
Hold can approximately 80 – 100 mm (3-4") from the surface and spray lightly.
Note: The extension tube may be fitted to reach problem areas.
Allow a few minutes for drying.
Ezy-Glide does not contain silicone.
