Tregg lock?

Going away from the camper for some time and need to lock the hitch.
It is a tregg and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction? I live in the Cheltenham area (Melb).
Would like something substantal as i have heard there are afew people around,if you could call them that,that like to take ones hard earned property.

I have one of the generic type key ones availiable from Repco and other parts shops. I also use a coated hi tensile chain as well with a substantial sheilded padlock. I put the chain through a wheel and around the suspension arm.

Even though these appear substantial they are only a deterant for the opportunistic, if a pro (scumbag) wants it, they will get it without issue.

Anywhere they sell caravans should also stock the tregg locks.

I just bought another one for the goldstream as i gave the other one i had away with the soft floor. Just ordered one off ebay all good.

It was about $230. You can't buy direct and I also had trouble find agents on their site so I called them and they pointed me in the right direction.

We have a "Hitch Pin Lock" - when going away from the CT I remove it from the 4BY & lock it on the CT [& stow the hitch in the 4BY]

Bought it from Supercrap but only cost $20

It's not a neat fit in the hole, but a deterant all the same.

I bought something similar and it didn't fit through the hole in the pin.
Take your pin with you and try before you buy.

I've got a lock that goes thru the pin, cost about $40 from Carac in Dandenong. I also have a pretty decent motorbike cable lock that I put through the wheel and around the chassis. You can only do your best, but if they really want it they will get it. Make sure the insurance is up to scratch.

Looked at getting one of these at a locksmith. They warned me NOT, under any circumstances, to use it as a Hitch Pin for towing. Apparently it is case hardened, which makes it difficult to cut through. Unfortunately it also means it gets brittle and not suited for heavy shear loads (seems counterintuitive to me). Anyhoo -  beware that it is not rated for towing at all. I think it is a larger diameter than the hitch pins, but someone may get it to fit easy enough.

x2 (or 3 if that's what we are up to) I also use one of these instead of the hardened jobbies together with a security cable around the wheel and leafspring. Probably not as secure, but I figure it is a bit of an obstacle for thieves.

This allows you to lock the the trailer to the tow vehicle or just lock the trailer on its own. They are also rated for towing. Will not however stop someone connecting up the safety chains and towing your camper off down the road!

...Or hiring a tilt tray truck and and winching it up, wheels chained or not, and driving off into the sunset.  If someone wants something you have, and they are brazen enough, there are plenty of options for them to use.  No much you can do other than have adequate insurance.

very true - its all about encouraging them to look for a softer a target, and as you say make sure you have adeqaute insurance that is paid and upto date.
