Types of canvas?

I was looking at the Freetime CT's in at Anaconda today and the tent is manufactured as 340g/m2 poly/cotton canvas. I can't find much info on how this equates to say 13oz ripstop or the like. I then strolled down and looked at the Oztrail canvas in another store and they look pretty similar from untrained eyes. Does anyone know what this 340g/m2 canvas is like?

Cheers Kit e Kat, I guess the thicker the canvas the better for wear and light penetration but then the weight also becomes a factor.

We have "DynaProof" (poly/cotton) 12oz on the roof and awning and (either) 10 or 8 for the walls (can't remember which sorry).  Whilst it does feel nice and thick, it is suprisingly light (although alot of it would get heavy of course), and depending on the colour will let a certain amount of light through. 

I believe the only real difference you will find is that Ripstop has a distinct "line" going through it. 

Both work on the same waterproof and mould proof properties ... so I guess it's just what you prefer.  Don't know how they compare $ wise though.

We looked at those Freetime campers at Anaconda when we were first thinking about a camper trailer. They seemed to have a metric s#@tload of poles and spreader poles which would mean a long setup time. I know there are some swaggers with oztrails who seem to be quite happy, they may be able to comment on there ease of setup. Something else to consider. I would also be thinking about what type of aftersales service you might get from Anaconda compared to the other place you were looking at.
