Poles in tube

Hey guys just curious how many pole u fit in your 100mm pole tubes that u make out of down pipe and do u take the wing nuts of the poles to fit more in?

I have 2 tubes and fit 6 poles in each (just). I have to put 3 poles in one way and the other 3 the other way so the wingnuts don't jam.

I have two 150mm pole holders, each one will fit 14 - 16  poles in it with the wingnuts attached.

I have 1 tube 100mm and can get in 3 poles and 5 spreader bars with a bit of fiddling - wing nuts stay on and its alternate the way they go in .. the 2 tent internal support poles now live in the tent . I think I'll be doing another tube to make it easier and to hold an umbrella , trekking poles , tripod and my new toy a stunt kite ...

I've found a bit of rubber at each end will save the poles from smashing through the end also. Just a tip from previous experience!

I have one of these in the toolbox instead. Not a fan of the plastic pole tubes.

Thanks guys that's great I'm thinking of building a special box for the poles was interested to see how many pole u r fitting in tubes would be great to make some out of 150mm but I believe it's really expensive unless u know the right person?

shame your not closer, I have my old 150mm pipe, clamps, and screw on caps sittin in the shed...
Removed it and had a larger toolbox made, that have the extra 150mm length added for poles, pegs and hammer.

I like this idea... incorporate it into the toolbox.

Pardon my ignorance but why the pole holder. All of our poles are in a bag made for the poles by the CT manufacturer. This bag along with the ladder goes on top of the tent/bed but under the travel cover. Seems like a good place to me. First thing off, last thing on.

Our poles r currently in a bag as well but it's really heavy and difficult to move I did try having it ontop of tent but they slide of and got caught under cover I possibly didn't put in the middle though I'm just looking for somewhere neat where we can pull poles out in a few at a time mainly I'm thinking if building a low long box that sits above mudguard not sure yet just one of 100 ideas I'm not sure if because our tent is 18ft we have a few extra pole which add to weight of bag but at moment it's a pain in the trailer ontop of everything

We have on the side of the bed inside the tent, the poles needed to put the tent up. Then the others in the tentpole bag.
Maybe seperate them into seperate bags, as you wont need *all* poles everytime.
Putting them in a tube will only make it that you need to remove most to find the ones you need first, thats how ours was.. no issues now.

I Agree. I got 2 bags made up by a local bloke, 1 bag is for the inside poles and is on the left side of the bed, The other is the annex poles and is on the right of the bed as they are the last ones to get used. Oh btw my camper is rear fold (just so it makes sense).

To set up the tent we don't need any extra poles other than two short ones at the bed end. For the awning we also use a bag for the poles. It just slides into the back of the camper. I'd rather have the poles in the trailer then sitting on the tent rubbing away at the canvas whilst heading across 1000's of corrugations.

On my old camper I used a PVC pipe mounted across the draw bar that I fitted, it worked fine too.

This is how we store our poles.  As said before ... first out, last in ... unless it pissing down and then everything (ropes as well) go on the ute tray.  No fancy clips to interfere with storage as these poles are big foot twist locks by SupaPeg.

another option I knew I'd seen somewhere, pole clips, and clip them under the bed - best use of wasted space I've seen for a while. Not sure how well they'd stay up there flyin across to Birdsville...  http://myswag.org/forum/index.php?topic=10250.0
