Total fire ban clarification

Hi all, we're heading to the Murray with the camper next week and the forecast is HOT!

So, what exactly can we do when we're camping if it's a total fire ban?

Obviously fires are out, as are chainsaws. That's fine.

But what about cooking? Are we allowed to use the gas stove in our camper? Is that classified as a BBQ? Or can we use our Webber BabyQ?

Ok, so I e now found the bit on the CFA website re total fire bans.

Seems that you can use a portable gas stove/BBQ on a day if total fire ban but only within 20m of a dwelling and tents and caravans are not considered dwellings.

Very restrictive for campers. Particularly considering we'll be right on the river.

We camp up on the Murray all the time, (waterskiing) and the way i understand it and have always done it , is on days of TFB then there is to be no naked flames at all, so no BBQs, stoves, heat beads, etc. So its cold meat and salads and if the TFBs go on for a few days then its into one of the clubs in town for a decent meal, we don find it that big of a deal usually to bloody hot to worry about cooking anyway
