I know its off topic but, I am trying to find a set of disc bowls for the parent for Christmas.

A google search shows lots of entries about caravan rallies and retirement villages having disc bowl competitions but nothing on where to buy them.  Tried the local lawn bowls shops and a few over the phone from Brisbane but no luck.  From what I have been told they are

I have attached the rules which i found on-line and it talks a little bit the description of the discs.

If anyone has any ideas I really would appreciate it.

Cheers

The Caravan Club that we are involved in had to make it's on sets as we were unable to find them commercially available.

Thanks crackacoldie,

I managed to track down through a friend of a friend a guy in Brisbane who will make them, $150 for a set including carrybag, calipers and a kitty.

what are they? the rules seem to suggest it's a bit like quoits, but not quite as heavy.... and with a ball as a jack rather than a post?

It's like lawn bowls, but each player gets 6 wooden discs to throw, instead of rolling a bowl.  The concept came from a Kiwi game, but the oldies in Aus treat it like the are playing for the title to Anna Creek Station.  Next time I see it played, will post some pics up.
