Great spot. Plenty of firewood up on the ridge as long as you have the ability to carry it down.
Inspired by your recent trip Scarps. There are going to be between 3 and 5 families so we will need to find a decent spot in there somewhere on Friday morning.
We are hitting Fraser the week before Easter. On the barge home on good Friday. Thinking about heading straight to levuka after that. First time to Fraser can not wait

Back to the Murray - with the rest of Melbourne.

Lake Catani before Easter for 3 days
New Avatar Fuji?

Hope he's goin Ok.
We're off to Hastings Point. We booked our 10 day stay 2 years ago and friends of ours booked their spot 2 weeks ago. Bloody good luck if you ask me LOL. We weren't willing to risk it for Easter weekend.
Missed out on having a swing off from work so only got a week off over Easter so taking the kids somewhere close, either Lake Victoria, Lotus Creek or another spot I've been told about. But I get the first weekend of the holidays all to myself, SWMBO will be in Toowoomba with the kids seeing her grand mother.
17 sleeps till fraser, ohh yeah
I hate camping with crowds, so usually don't bother over Easter (and with ANZAC day the week after it'll be feral for two weekends straight! >:(), and I'm rostered on the week before and after, so... meh... I'll pass.

Call me a grouch but i seriously consider easter one of the best weekends of the year to stay home... So.Many.Tools.On.The.Roads. however, i have some freinds that are dead keen on hitting the coast and i should have the trailer pretty much finished by then so it will be the perfect time to give it a shake down run probably. Heading from SA to Bright, Victoria with nights stop off at Halls Gap on way there and Swan Hill on return trip.

Managed to do a reccy up the Murray on Saturday and picked out our spot for Easter, with some alternates for bad weather and/or other campers - look like going up next Monday or Tuesday as we all got next week off :)

Unfortunately now looks like our plans to Tamala are put on hold....The Prado battery light has come on and wont go away - even after being on the battery charger so thinking the alternator is dying only upside is thankfully we realise now and not on the highway.
Bestbrook up at Cunningham's gap with a few other families. Typical farm stay type camping from what I gather with plenty for the young ones while the big kids share a quiet drink or two...

Yeah a run around town last night after picking the husband up from work proved the alternator is dying as the radio system starting losing power and trying to start up - thankfully we were just down the road from home. We might be lucky and have an alternator here by tomorrow as his boss is ringing around trying to find one through the work suppliers and getting it couriered ASAP so there is still a chance to get away but not holding my breath.

still plenty of room up on the Murray, but it will fill quickly from mid next week. If you want to set up this weekend, Sue and her cousins up there now could keep an eye on your kit til you come back up.
Taken a lot of calendar co-ordination, including having the Ex-Wife tell the daughter that she's going, negotiating holidays with work for the missus and I.
Fraser Island - planning 5-6 days on the island, and stopping in to get a feed & stay at the parent place in Brisbane either side.

Thanks Scarps, all dependant if the bos can get the time off otherwise we could left with the standard public holidays..Best we could do is leave Thursday..Need to work something out quickly me thinks.

QuoteHere's hoping Victoria's parents are stocked up on Monopoly and Scrabble.
The Bureau of Meteorology has cast a dampener on the plans of Victorian parents for the school holidays with seven days of rain forecast for metropolitan Melbourne and the majority of the state.
Extra waterproof and all-weather gear is advised for the brave souls setting off for the Victorian wilderness with the Easter school holidays a popular time for family camping trips.
But while it may be wet for the following week with rain forecast every day until Monday, the mercury is not expected to drop much below 15 degrees as a minimum with most days forecast to be a relatively balmy 22 degrees maximum.
A trough and low pressure system combined last week to bring the heaviest rainfall in over a year to parts of eastern Victoria and the soggy weather shows no sign of abating in Victoria's capital.
The next seven days will mark the first significant rainfall in Melbourne since February 17, when the city received 15 mm of rain, according to Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Dean Stewart.
He said Melbourne could expect up to 50mm in the next week with the "eastern suburbs a chance to get a good deal more depending on the low developing off the coast on Friday."
The forecast rainfall was generally consistent with autumnal weather patterns, he said.

Yep we coped it alright.
We were parked at Track 8 on fliders, in a bit of a swamp I discovered that arvo. Good thing is the large number of trees had us protected from it all but the rain.
Funny thing is, I was sitting on the Beach watching the kids splash about, the view to the nth was fine, until the change feeling in the air came upon me.
Here is what it looked like when I turned my head around.

The 4 nights we had, the 1st was warm, 2nd wet, 3rd cool, 4th wet.
Worst bit is, Missus thrashed me at cards.
The track along the back of the Key Holes was fun, had the water way over the bonnet in a few spots.
The drive down the centre of the island past the lookout from the Amity Point turn of was beautiful, all the new growth there now from the fire is a real nice sight.
Well, going away for 5 weeks, starting today.
Just boarded the Spirit of Tasmania to Melbourne. Drive to Broken Hill via Lake Boga (1 night). Staying for 5 nights at Broken Hill then down to Radium Hill for 5 nights. Work our way through the southern Flinders Ranges to Adelaide (many nights). Adelaide to Tailem Bend, Naracoorte, Mount Gambier, Hamilton, Geelong, Ferry across to Sorrento, up to Melbourne and catch the boat home (lots of night).
Picture is of us waiting at Devonport to board the Spirit of Tasmania Ferry tonight.

Don't believe so mate !! the way councils are crying poor about money, it may never re open ??
That is what I thought. It will cost too much for them to stablise the raod and hills so they were going to leave it as it was.
With the missus working three night shifts over Easter, we are not going anywhere. :'(
Plus not every national park up here has fully re-opened after the cyclone, so I reckon everywhere that is campable will be chockers. And that is never fun.
I might actually have to do something useful around the house like finish painting the half-painted living room.
Women sure are impatient.....I said I'd finish it. Not sure why she reminds me every six months about it ???

yep, we start packing up today. Swmbo's been here for two weeks.
Can't miss today's excitement. I love watching incoming campers domestic disputes of:
Where's the tent poles? Did you grab the rope/peg bag from the garage?
Did you grab the esky of food off the front verandah? Where's the beer?
Kid's bike tyre has a puncture and needs fixing immediately to stop the child crying.
Forgotten the gas hose for the stove/bbq.
Forgotten the bags with the clothes in them.
Wives yelling at husbands who have just driven 3hrs out of town with kids asking "are we there yet?"
C'mon, wouldn't miss today for anything. More exciting than Carlton winning a game:-)

Classic last night. We sat up by the fire til 11pm'ish and had to make a decision to either crack another bottle or head off to bed. Man did we make the wrong decision........ Took the bed option.......
Within 1/2hr of heading to bed, in rolls a 4by and CT and decide to set up right next to us. 1/2km of empty beach still available and the patch of ground next to us looked the best for them.
Have to give them some credit, they were respectful and set up as quietly as possible. I think they may have even put a rag over the 8 pegs that got quietly hammered in. Even on several occasions they were polite enough to say shhhhh to each other.
All was quite polite and respectable until she couldn't get the clip on her bra undone and she asked him to help.
Think I could get to sleep after that?
Next time - take the 'another bottle' option.......

Well, our Easter plans turned to a big pile of poop just as I hit the key to start the boat at 8:30am. :'(
No rumbling, 5.7 litres of V8 horsepower... oh no.... just a whizzing noise and no cranking of the furkin engine. ???
Great, boat chock a block with food, drinks etc and the wife and I looking at each other. Right, seats out, hatch open, suss out where the starter is, main floor out and get the starter out and rock up at a neighbours place (Auto Electrician)
Quick strip down reveals the clutch for the drive thingy has gone on holidays too.
In to Gympie tomorra, grab a new starter (hopefully they have one in stock) and put it all back together to try and salvage the last half of Easter at least.
Repco better have one too.

I'll post this in the wanted section as well, broke the leaf spring on the camper yesterday arvo at Cobar any one in Cobar or within a couple of hours got a spare? 50mm wide and 690 approx eye to eye. Heading into town this morning to see if I can source 1. We got lucky drove 9 hours at highway speeds and had the spring snap driving into the property we are staying on at about 15kms hour.Got it dodged up and into camp by dark.(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/19/anejapa9.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/19/4u8yqumu.jpg)
Just got back from 12 nights at Fraser Island. Our first trip over there & had a ball. Did Sandy Cape, Platypus Bay, Wathumba, Lake Mackenzie Postan's Logging camp & a few other spots. Had a couple of days of yucky weather but that didn't bother us as we were in a house at Orchid Beach. Kids had a great time, even took my 6y.o. boy up for a joy flight as it was his birthday whilst we were over there. His first ride in a plane. Photos later.
Off to clean the Cruiser.
Cheers, MIke.

Bugger on the starter. Let me guess, you'll get the motor sorted and you have to go back to work?
I get to use our camper this weekend if only a night, BBQ and piss up at the sister inlaws place, it's only out at Gracemere but means both of us can hit the turps. Also get the brother in law to chuck a second pair of eyes over the planned rear tyre relocation and kitchen mods.

Spent the night cruising around the High Country and then back to the office. Went to start the Poo-troll and she wouldn't fire. Suspected fuel issue. Local RACV checked it out and gave it the 'she's cactus' verdict. So it's on a flat tray Tuesday morning.
Luckily we had the backup Paj as 20 minutes after knocking off we were called out for a rollover back in the High Country.
So, for the rest of the weekend we'll be in the Paj. 8)

May I ask if it is a private property or something others can stay at.
I've spent the day a few times with the kids at the park just before Natural Bridge, forget the name.
Sure is peaceful, until the bikes start coming along, then the Ambo's.....
Packed up from the Murray today in sunshine which was great to dry the canvas out.
Swmbo had 2 great weeks up there albeit a little wet to start with.
Now two days at home to catch up on home duties.
Departed Sydney last Saturday before heading up to Narromine then Bourke. From there it was across to Wanaaring then on to Cameron Corner. Back to Tibooburra before heading down to Silverton & now currently at Broken Hill. Over the next week it is on to Menindee, Mungo NP, then Mildura before heading back to Sydney
Nothing open in Cobar until Tuesday to see if anyone has parts, but have landed on our feet with 16,000 acres of private property to camp on, fresh shot and butchered goat for dinner and country hospitality. Almost wishing No one has parts and we have to come back out with parts to pick the camper back up

Had an interesting drop in last night. A family (unknown to us) who had been at Ulupna island were on their way home when they blew a tyre on the trailer. The dad pulled into our place and asked if he could leave the trailer till morning since he didn't have a spare. Poor bloke was trying to beat the rush home today, but had to come back today with a tyre.
Heard some horror stories people barely getting out of 1st gear between Echuca and Rochester the traffic was that bad. So fingers crossed for all those running the gauntlet that you get home safely.
Mate of mine went to Violet Town today, 1hr50 to get there, 3hr40 to get home. The Hume Fwy south bound from Seymour was down to 15 km/h.
Just had a look off my back deck and can still see streams of red tail lights heading south on the Northern and Hume, but seem to be moving at normal speed.

I've already paid for (yesterday morning) the new one and its a done deal now...bugger. :'(
You seem to have a lot of, shall we say, goodies around the place, I might have to make you my first call in future.
I'm gunna fit it on Friday and try for a be-lated easter break.
I'll be up there in the morning, could have even delivered it.
My neighbour is a courier and a really nice bloke, so at least I get the new one delivered for free.

we did three nights there as well (the tourist park, not the big4). loved it. first trip in the camper...
How did it go? Were you there with Mal and his crew?
The Big $ was its usual mix of madness! We managed to get a shady spot. Good weekend for us.

Pete
Just got back from my extended easter break, a great time and caught up with a few swaggers in a couple of states of Oz
GG
Been for a drive to Nhill and Back.
Left Thursday for the weekend. Tvan on the Back.
Good Friday was a 10.00am. start, and a road and tracks trip to Big Billy Bore.
Saturday was Big Billy Bore Camping area out to the top of the S.A. Border track, near Scorpion Springs. Travelling the correct direction (South) to Centre Road and turned right and out Centre track onto the bitumen and down to Bordertown.
Used the Trailer deviation along the Border Track too.
Sunday was Bordertown to Nhill via McDonald Highway in the Little Desert.
Nice hot showers for everyone at the Nhill Caravan Park and tea at the Pub.
Rest overnight and Back home Monday at about 5.30p.m.
Learnt a bit about sand driving for sure.
Dragging the Tvan through the desert is not really a cheap option either.

Just had a few swaggers visit for some camp oven stew and some sophisticated conversation while burning dome wood in the fire drum!
Sent from somewhere on something with that tap thing
And it was delicious, but the traffic was crapola. We sat on 90 and let everyone pass us.
