Just heard the quote "He had the ability to make ordinary people feel pretty special, and special people feel pretty ordinary".

Don't we all wish we could do that on occasion..

Recall on home battery system

Have you read the latest LG ESS Home Energy Storage System Batteries recall notice (27 March 2023) to recheck serial numbers? The recall notice was further extended to include S/A Gen LG batteries housed in other branded home energy storage systems.

The ACCC updated the LG ESS Batteries Recall Notice advising consumers that affected S/A Gen2 batteries have also been supplied in unbranded generic cabinets.

A further recall of LG batteries to recheck serial numbers was issued following errors detected in the LG online serial checker. Electrical contractors who have installed any recalled batteries should help customers by heading to the LGES battery checker.

S/A Gen2 batteries may have also been installed in non-LG branded systems including: SolaX Power Station, SolaX X-Cabinet, Opal Storage, Redback SH5000, Red Earth Sunrise, Red Earth Drop Bear, Eguana Evolve, VARTA Pulse Neo, and battery modules contained in a generic cabinet (many of which are identifiable by connection to a Selectronic inverter).

Interesting

Milestone achieved!!!! Earlier this week, Transport & Main Roads (TMR) Queensland have released the newly developed Gross Combination Mass (GCM) code as well as the modification of the GVM code. This has been a huge amount of work by TMR Queensland and their NSW & Victorian counterparts along the AAAA working group. Industry driven and two years in the making, ARB, Fulcrum, Pedders, Lovells and Wheel Conversion were heavily involved in this milestone and Four Wheel Drive Australia are extremely proud to be associated with this working group in which our Industry will no doubt see the benefits into the future.

New Driver Distraction Laws

Please be aware there are new laws being brought in to limit driver distractions on public roads throughout the state.

The Minister for Roads and Road Safety recently announced changes will be enacted from March 31, this will bring Victorian regulations into line with the rest of Australia. The news changes are set cover built in vehicles systems, mounted devices, wearable and portable devices. Along with these rules new camera technology is also set to debut on Victorian roads in the coming months to help detect those using phones or not wearing seat belts whilst driving. Learners and probationary drivers are at a much greater risk in their first years of driving so stronger conditions will apply, including not touching any portable device, taking phone calls or using voice control unless parked.

Motorists caught driving distracted will receive penalties of four demerit points and a $555 fine. Community awareness campaigns will run over the coming months to educate drivers on the devastating risks of distraction.

The Labor Government is also investing $33.7 million as part of the Victorian Road Safety Strategy 2021-2030 to introduce new mobile phone and seatbelt detection camera technology that will help catch people using their mobile phones and not wearing their seatbelts while driving.

The new camera technology will be operational on Victorian roads in coming months. A three-month warning period will apply from the technology's activation before drivers face infringement and demerit penalties.

I'm not going to argue because I got the picture from a newspaper that said that's what they were. On reflection, that was probably a bad idea.

Anyway, whatever takes the photos then sends them from the UK to Australia for processing. I didn't read that in the paper.

A policeman in this video says so. So, it must be true.

In the paper this morning. Do people just forget what they are driving or what? I mean I can understand people forgetting that they have put a roof rack on but surely not that you are driving a double decker bus.

As a teenager, I lived in Ballina, attended high school in Lismore, travelled on a double decker bus(Kirklands). In those 4 years, I remember at lest a couple of times that the bus had hit a low hanging branch along the Ballina Cutting,  smashing the fibreglass upper deck roof section.
Thank God nobody ever got hurt, although it did scare the crap out of us.
But driving in town, you would think the driver knew his run, and if there were low bridge, etc.

Hi,
I was under the impression that there was a minimum height provision that needed a bump bar as well as the height indicator.
Funny story, as I was told.
Army base with tanks etc on low loaders and local council maintained roads and low overhead bridges etc.
All is fine for years,  council fixes roads every year or so and one day - BANG. Considerable damage $ to both bridge and tank.
Council at fault for not changing height sign with build up of bitumen road base repair.

Cheers

Finally found

We spent Easter at Mitta and there's only about 3 or 4 tarred roads in and out then a series of farm roads and forest tracks. Did wonder if Google maps may have led them astray........

The double deckers used for the country school runs around here have brush guards running up the front left and across the top deck front windows to ward off stray branches.

Sorry, I forgot to mention it was 1979 to 82.
The front of these buses had no protection at all.
