yea but every radio/TV ran with it LOL
Just like the mayor of Ballina referred to the flooding there as a 1 in 500 year flood.
All media jumped on it took her as being correct. :O

Some News producers really need edit, choose their location better.
Channel 10, reporter on the banks of the Clarence river in Grafton, someone's lawn, water front property with the river in the background stating how the floods are of total devastation in Lismore, and in the Clarence Valley.
In the background, there's old mate on his John Deer rideon going round & round, mowing his water front lawn.
Obviously he didn't give a.

On CH9 news in Sydney earlier this week the was a female reporter paddling around in a kayak commenting how bad the floods were, how high they rose etc etc paddling into people's front yards, really dramatising it. In the background across the other side of the residential street a bloke walked across the shot with the water not even up to his knees.

It's all about the image. You are not supposed to fault the dramatic illusion being created.

Crack of dawn, RFS uniform on, at the Fire Station in Lawrence by 6.30am.
8 members, 3 vehicles(cat 1, 7, 9), off we go to help with the flood clean up.
Listening to the chatter on Comms, there a bridges not only from the Clarence valley calling in, bridges from Coffs, Armidale, Glen Innes all calling in.
We call in as we leave the station, confirming what we intend to be doing, it acknowledged and thanked for our assistance.
Over the next 10 hours we go door to door checking on people, asking can we help, is there anything we can help you with. Some of these people have been in the houses for a week. We push mud with rake/hoes, hose out under houses, wash sheds, driveways & roads.
The look on their faces, they are grateful for the help.
When they smile, you can see what you've done for them has made a huge difference to their day.
That makes me smile.
Just be kind, it doesn't take much.

I just saw this on FB.
WOW
"With so many NSW Rural Fire Service firefighters now helping the flood response on the north coast, they need somewhere to eat and sleep.

That's why we've set up a base camp on the outskirts of Lismore so they can rest up - sometimes after a long drive from home hundreds of kilometres away, and before heading out to help residents and businesses.

There's facilities including showers and toilets, food service areas, first aid and even daily Rapid Antigen Tests to help keep everyone COVID safe.

It also means that accommodation that wasn't impacted by the floods can be used by local residents."

Well another 10 hours spent helping people.
Hey, :)
My body is going to
Remind me tonight that I'm nearly 56 and not 25.
Worked next too 3, 25 year old ADF members.
Those boys didn't stop.
Pulling up wet carpets and underlay, books water logged, cupboards & wet bedding.
They never stopped.
They were from Canberra.
Well done lads, they are back at it tomorrow.

Finished up cleaning properties, roads and helping locals yesterday at about 7pm.
In three days we(Lawrence RFS) attended to 28 requests for assistance.
After finishing a down stairs clean up, it looked like a war zone, 3 hours later all washed out, all the items moved to the street, the lady had made us Scones(Jam, freshly whipped cream), cut sandwiches, cuppa. :)

Back at the station, while cleaning our gear, trucks, ready for the next call out, a few locals turned up, they had got together and made dinner for us(11).
Potato bake, sausages, rissoles, salads, it was a feast.

Love this community.
