Tough day at the office for Ararat.

That's a shot at goal about every 45 seconds, umpires would have leather poisoning from throwing up the ball, goal umps would have RSI from waving the flags and the Lions back line would have been bored as Shit.

The 3 player Great Western fly in from the Tiwi Islands every week, apparently combined to kick 46 of those goals...

Bad kicking with all those points.  ;D
At least Ararat beat them in one stat.

Accuracy on goal.  100% v's about 65%.

Apparently the team was made up mainly of the seconds, who went down by 200 in their own game first.. They then played the seniors game, and only had 12 players in the last 1/4...
Lots of country clubs are struggling to field teams these days :(
They lost every round by 100 points or more so far.. Few rounds ago 50.27-327 to 0.0-0 and 36.16-232 to 4.2-26... Hats off to the boys for still turning up, I don't think I would. great club spirit been going since 1800's....

edit: few other games in same comp
Lismore Derrinallum 38.22-250  FINAL 4.5-29 Caramut
Glenthompson Dunkeld 38.16-244  FINAL 4.6-30 Moyston Willaura
Hawkesdale Macarthur  2.9-21 FINAL 19.18-132 Penshurst

seems like 250 isnt an abnormal score in the league.

That was my first thought.  That would be tough walking off the field after that.  Also tough for all the club volunteers and committee.
Obviously GW showed them no mercy in the 2nd half, by kicking 55 more goals....

Yeah.  Even Great Western went into recession only a few years ago.  Obviously found a wealthy benefactor....
Suburban clubs in the older areas are suffering too.

at first I thought that was a low act to be honest.. theres times to flog a team... They could have called it off at 3/4 time when they only has 12 players left who'd already played a game.

.. but when most teams in the comp are constantly being obliterated, % would come in to it at the end of season - as I said before, 250 isnt uncommon!!
The comp looks like a joke really - 8 teams with 3 "TEAMS" - and 5 others making up the comp with no chance of scoring let alone winning.

There was a good episode on Australian Story few years ago where rural clubs had been enemies for 80 years were merging,  I mean real punchups everytime they met, which in smaller competitions was 4-5 times a year Lol!  Then few years later, after they had all merged, that complete regional league was forced into merging.

Cricket and Footy and other clubs are the life blood in many rural communities... where everyone can go and just get along

now I understand why they're a happy team at Hawthorn.

Saw that when it happened during the game, Hodgie laughed it off, evidently they are good mates!

Ripper game between cats and lions today.  Lions on top of ladder.    Hawks are out so hoping the lions can take the flag.

Just hope the hawks can put in a good one for Roughie tomorrow.

Look out for the Lions for a while but we Port fans are left shaking our heads week to week but perhaps this explains it-

I agree.  He,s been a standout for the Hawks and a big win with a bag of goals would be a great way to say goodbye to the fans and team mates.  Another champion footballer retiring.

Was happy to see that

Fantastic to see Roughy,s last match.  Must admit I got a little emotional because he was a brilliant player and a very modest man.  Probably one of the best weekends of football I,ve seen in many years.  Hawks wont be in the finals this year but have a great showing on the horizon for 2020.  Still think the finals should only be the top 4 or 5 teams.

Won't change as it's all about making sure there's no cheap flag as the ultimate Premier must beat the other 3 in the top 4 or else any smoky coming through that can beat them. Dogs are the only team to beat the odds since the modern 8 format and perhaps the end of season rest week facilitated that upset.

People forget that if the Dogs had won their last H&A game against Freo, they would have finished 3rd. It was a pretty tightly packed final 8....

agree
I'd say final 5 as it used to be is the best Why reward average teams with a 'lucky draw' in the run home... Far better to reward those teams who are consistent throughout the whole year.

Minor prem's get week off
2 v 4 and 3 v 5 elim style etc.

But it wont ever happen.. the TV overlords who own the game would love a final 18 team final series... more TV, more adverts, more suckers with foxtel...  They are promised X amount of games and finals per season...  Less finals = less revenue for them, which personally I dont care about

That's the way it goes if there's a tight bunch at the top but speaking of Freo Port are doomed to lose this weekend however the other results pan out  ::)
