Ever since seeing a Model A 4x4 hot rodded tray back truck on Fraser  once, and having kids I reckoned a 4x4 dual cab version would be cool .
But done in an aged / weathered condition along the lines of this O'l girl .

A close friends father has an old A Model buckboard very similar to your bottom pic. Built it out of parts dragged out of paddocks in the late 70's.
Was his daily driver (his weekender is a beat up E Type Jag...) up until the cops put it off the road a few years ago.

My partner and friend would get dropped off to school sitting on the back and there was even a trip to Phillip Island when they were kids.  Couch strapped to the back and a water tank cut in half roped over as a roof...
Had to ditch the tank roof half way as they were getting fumed out.

Up until 10 years ago, every year he'd drive it from Melbourne to the Tamworth county music festival.  Took a while....

I'll try and find a pic. There was a feature done on it in a book call Beaut Utes.

Local VW:

In daily use, the story is he parks it facing downhill a lot of the time, so he can roll start it... I suspect it's old enough that it might be a 6V car... He also has a set of car boots and out of car boots, and gets changed into them accordingly.

At work we also have a hot rod show each year:

This one is a local car, and was doing laps around town last night (as he is wont to do):

And because this is a camping forum:

Nah. I just happened to be driving past the velodrome and saw the gold fm flags so quickly stopped and had a look. There was only about 5 billycarts competing. I saw the final then nicked off.

Only 750 made, probably 748 have rusted away to nothing  :'(

With enough horse power, sheer ignorance and a total lack of respect for your vehicle, you'll get through....

My parents MGBs had the overdrive on 3rd and 4th, in effect a 6 speed box or one with some half gears in between.

My dad had an MGB in his youth. His mum took it for a drive and commented "This feels fast for 50mph".  She was actually looking at the rev counter which was in increments of 100 so she was doing 5000rpm in 4th gear down the high street.

Here's my old girl. Love the wagons, really wanted an eh and still do but the fc will do. Best looking holden grill by a long shot.
It's got a warm 186 with a trimatic, Hr frontend and chassis bracing for future upgrades ;) just a cruiser.
