Thanks everyone.

Well today she had an MRI to find out if it's travelled any further. We won't find the results out until tomorrow and then she has more CT scans and PET scans.

Fingers crossed that it all comes back that it hasn't gone too far.

Just found this thread, its a terrible diagnosis and tough road ahead for you both Mav.

I have been a nurse for 30 years today, and if nothing else my time in healthcare has reinforced to me the need to live life to its fullest as there is no guarantees. I hope you and your wife have the chance to make the most of the time available to you. Your courage in starting this thread is commendable and the sense of community on this forum is fantastic.

I currently work in mental health having moved out of the hospital setting for a while. If any swagger needs a professional ear or help navigating the system I am always happy to take a PM - no promises but will help if I can.

Thinking positive thoughts for you and your wife maverick.

I am sitting in a hospital bed as we speak. Nothing too serious, just a bit of a dicky ticker. I've been here all week and have done a lot of thinking.

I agree with GanG 100% +.
Make the most of every second, of every minute of the day.

Take care Mav.  You and your wife are in my thoughts.

i find it hard to know what to say to people in a terrible situation such as yourselves.... everything feels a bit inadequate... :(

but, i'll just say that you guys are in my family's prayers.

keep the chin up and as others have already offered, you can add my shoulder to the list...

Mav I see in todays paper that there is a new melanoma drug that is on trial, the drug trial has just been expanded from only NSW to include QLD and Vic residents. Its only being offered/funded to folks with brain involvement, I believe it is a fairly promising treatment. I am not sure who is running the trial, but may be worth a call to your oncologist?

Today my mate turned 53.

At 49 and 8 months he was told by his doctors to go home and say goodbye to his family.

There is always hope.

Well as much as I wanted to let everyone know earlier I thought it was best to wait til she recovered a bit.

Wednesday 2 weeks ago my wife had a 2 inch tumour removed from the back of the frontal love in the brain. The operation went well even by the surgeon, he said he is 99% confident that he managed to remove it all in 1 piece.

So far she is recovering well. The sight is still limited but improving a little bit every day. She has a lot more energy.

We are just taking each day as it comes

$20 from me, cheers Ron.
