Yes, there is always someone worse off. It takes reading something like this to make us realise how petty the things we worry about really are.

We put off doing things until that one day when we have the money, the time, the leave etc.

You are so right, we shouldn't put things off.

My thoughts are with you and your wife Mav and I would like to thank you for posting your story and making me and hopefully others rethink the way they look at things.

Mav,

Thanks for the post mate.
Puts things into perspective. Here I am stressing about a Shitty time I am currently having at work, and people like you and your wife are going through this.

I now feel like a selfish prick. My thoughts are with you guys mate. Soldier on as best you can and reach out when you struggle.
Once again, thanks.

Dave.

Mav,

All the best to you and your wife.

You commented that the doctors won't tell what foods are best. My wife's oncologist certainly told her about diet but that was all to do with what foods were detrimental to the chemo. I'm not a big believer in trying to cure cancer with diet, I don't think there's enough scientific fact to prove that (but not here to start a argument)

The main thing you can do is do whatever gives you the greatest internal strength and confidence to push on. There will be some very tough times ahead. Enjoy every moment, live for the day like there will be no tomorrow. My wife's diagnosis was grim, there was never going to be a good outcome.

I say this with experience. My beautiful wife of 5 years passed away 6 months ago after a brave 12 month fight. Christmas will be tough.

All the best mate - sorry to hear your story :(

Really great to see the support here! I lost my dad to cancer at 19 (he was only 44), and I wish to this day that there had been more support around back then, so take whatever you can!

Cancer is a right pr!ck of a disease :(
We've swapped from the camper to a van yay! :)

G'day Maverick,

Brave thing you've done with the starting the thread, takes a lot to open up and let others in........

Also very honourable to be doing it as a heads up reminder to others.

All the best to you and your Mrs.

Hope good things come your way!

Seriously no offense here at all and I hope you and your family fair well in the new year ..peace

maverick01

Thanks to all.

As hard as it is at the best of times. It's 10 times harder at this time of year wondering what the next 12months will bring.

This is something I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. It's heart breaking watching your partner suffer.

Yes I'm feeling down again. Hence why I'm on here as my wife is sleeping and needed to vent even if nobody is awake to listen.

Mate you don't know me but i'm here too. The black dog gets me as well. Just having a yarn or a rant can help a little. Just keep the conversation going, with myswaggers but most importantly your gp.

I meant vent, not bent LOL

So, what's been happening?

KB

maverick01

Not much really.

Just the usual Christmas shopping and whatever else is associated with it.

Mainly just work and staying home looking after the missus where I can. But i feel useless at home as I wish I could do so much more for her but I can't. I can only be there when she needs me.

I was meant to go away with another fellow swagger on the 27th but at this stage I might have to postpone it as if the missus isn't feeling up to camping then I will stay home.

Best thing is to talk about it, gets it out in the open and daylight.  :cup:
The big black dog doesn't like that and skulks away waiting for another chance. >:( Keep talking, keep it out in the open so others can help, and that will keep the black dog way from your door for longer and longer, but he will be lurking.
Be thankful for being able to have so much precious time with your wife and family, take every day as a gift from your god and treasure it and hold it dear.
Prepare yourself for the worst, BUT, never give up,work, plan, pray, hope for the best to happen and that will keep the black dog at bay too.
Keep up the talk with your doctor/friends/family it all helps to releave the stress, and who knows, a cure or time buying treatment may come along.
If you ever want to just have a chat give me a call or pm I'm here, sometimes fighting off the black dog myself
cheers Keith
