It will be interesting to see after purchasing your 4WD how much extra you have spent adding things, modifying things etc.

You can change your vote for on going modifications / changes.

Where's the "No Idea" button?

I've had mine for nearly 15 years. 10g's doesn't go far over that period of time.
(Got every receipt, but not game to add them up......)

I was going well ($2,000) until a recon motor was added at $11,000. Go the over $10,000 it's safer  ;D

10 g doesn't go far these days.

By the time Bull bar , fridge and rear drawers are added, 10 g is looking pretty sick.

It's bloody scary when you start to tally it all up.

Some things are better left alone  ;D

Less than $100 so far in nearly 12 months.

I did get the ARB bullbar fitted pre delivery.

Anything else was either transferred from the last car or isn't physically part of the car so doesn't count.

Needs another choice over 20k
I spent at least 10k on accessories before even driven, and another 10k on upgrades additional accessories and still have more to spend, it's worse when you add in labour

I've spent less than $3000, but I tallied up the price of all the fruit that was on the car when I bought it, and it adds up to about $18,000 in extras

Im lucky that mine (R51 Pathfinder) came with bull bar, winch, snorkel, suspension upgrade including airbags, rear wheel carrier. I have only spent money on replacing/upgrading battery system, and cargo barrier. But new rubber and regular servicing adds up!

My 2008 Prado D4D came with most fruit stripped of it.

So I added:
1. Recovery points
2. HID spotlights
3. UHF radio
4. Navman Escape 11 GPS and reversing camera
5. Tyredog TPMS
6. Dual battery lines to the rear - Anderson plug for fridge and USB and ciggie for other things
7. Cargo barrier.
8. Drawers.
9. MSA drop down fridge slide
10. ARB 47 ltr fridge
11. Recovery gear - lots.
12. More tools including bottle jack etc.
13. Tough Dog suspension - 2" lift
14. Safari snorkel

Only one thing to do - diff breathers this month.

Hmmm. It is scary. Had well over 20K extras on the Patrol. ???

200 is at half that with bugger all done after suspension, bullbar, snorkel, UHF and splitting the batteries.

I'll hold you to that Mark  ;D

Purchase price was $21,000 in August 05.
Including the purchase price, services(running costs Excluding diesel) and unexpected repairs, I've spent on the Cruiser just under 37K in 9 years.
But shes a better rig for it.  ;D
I'd spent another 20K on her Tomorrow if I had it

Have a look at carb carliels 80 series give away thread
You have to spend 65k after buying the vehicle

Sure goes to show how much you can spend, then there is the fun stuff like trying out different tyre/ rim combos and wish lists like portal axles

It is scary when you start adding up the costs. X that by multiple vehicles  :o

My Sierra no extras already came pimped out.(ultimate suspension and sway bars, alloy bullbar, mag wheels, 215/75 tyres, tinted windows etc. spent about $ 500 on CB and Spotties.

Dual cab hilux approx $6000 (ARB trifecta bars, winch LR tank OME suspension, dual battery) back in  94.

4runner. Over $20000, already came with a LR rank,  went threw three stages of evolution, first stage (ARB bullbar, sidestep and kaymar rear, dual battery) second state (DTS turbo,  ARB difflocks & compressor, gauges, full cage roof rack, tweaking of suspension for more travel and kaymar swing arm added for spare, tyre size upgrade 32's draw system and fridge slide cargo barrier). Third stage (hi pinion front diff, ratio change(5.29's) dual transfers, body lift, modified gearbox cross members various x3 more suspension mods, 35's  hi steer fitted. (Fully engineered and street legal.  It was a beast.  Met a very tragic end whilst I was serving OS. I am sure their are other things I have missed as well.

Dual cab 80 close to 20k  fully engineered and street legal.

Kia sportage around 2.5k so far, 4" suspension, body lift, R&P's and front difflock (still to be fitted)

Chaffy my Disco II  around 2 k so far. Came with most mods already completed for a competent tourer/off-roader. Bought a Nanacom, madman engine monitoring system and silicon hoses.

Add in purchase prices it really makes the eyes water.

cheers, Chris

Cruiser came with air bags in rear suspension, otherwise have added the ARB roof rack and 110ah Thumper aux battery to cargo bay for around $2000 total, otherwise zilch.
The previous vehicle had auto diff locks on both axles from factory, and I added a 75ah Thumper & OME suspension approx $3000 at ARB, 69l aux fuel tank $2000 from TJM, roof bars $200, Rola cage $300, Air bags $500 fitted,  I don't tend to include things like tyres because although you may change them straight away for a different tread they are still a consumable that need replacing at some point regardless.
