A strange one for myswag but interested in your thoughts.
We have just bought a new place. Three bedrooms/two living/two bath/two garage.
We 'DID' have just have the three coming with us which is fine as two always share and the kids are never in their rooms except for sleeping. Otherwise they are in the living rooms or outside.
However, much to mums delight, our uni son will be coming up as well. Not a biggie as I am happy to add a fourth bedroom to the place and there is an area where that can go (will post a drawing) but this got me to thinking.
I am almost fifty and the four year old will not be leaving home I imagine until I am at least sixty five so the house will have kids there. But, lots of family and friends who retire end up with four bedroom houses and only one bedroom being used with one as a guest room and the others stinking of old people smell.
Sooooo, would it make more sense to carport the area where the bedroom was going to to go and where a large, dare I say it, caravan lives. Say a Jayco extenda or similar. This gives the oldest one their own 'flat' so to speak with a small kitchen, living area to study and to be self contained somewhat.
About three times a year we commandeer it to go away and they move into our room while we are away.
The oldest is easy to get along with so either option would suit.
