Who here has tasted a distinct difference in Vegemite since this 'nation changing' halal approval?  I had it on toast this morning and noticed nothing...  What dangerous additives have been added for halal approval?

Would have thought this is a good thing.  Now other cultures can join in and experience a food unique to Australia.

Why does it need to be there?
Then looking at a few other things Sara Lee strawberry cheesecake has AFIC (The Australian Federation Of Islamic Councils INC)

So curiosity got the better of me, had to go and check all this out for myself and OMG!! guess what I found printed on my jar of vegemite?? Use by June 13!! I have been giving my family out of date vegemite - eeekkk!!!

If people are unhappy with public companies that support religious views simply don't buy from them, I no longer eat vegimite, I don't goto halal supportive food venues and I don't goto church sunday mornings,I'm not a big believer in supporting other people beliefs when I disagree with them.So I'm sure as hell not going to support it with my hard earned $$

I'm guessing that comment was directed at me,,, soooo ,you also left out a whole lot of other companies that have religious connections, I'm sure it would be impossible to find one that dosn't and this isn't a new thing lol ."Does my head in" ? nope not all halal verified food go through a certification process,in order to get a certification on a particular item of food cost companies $$$ and comes with a nice little label on there food item giving me the OPTION to buy/not buy so at least I know my $$ won't go towards funding the certification of any foods where the company usually gets lobbied into it in the first place.

Carn't always be 100% sure where the money goes to, it's all about doing my little bit

Behind the scene, this is quite an interesting issue.

I have no objection to a manufacturer making a commercial decision to decide to halal accredit in the basis of increasing market share for goods that require halal accreditation (meats, etc).

The issue behind the scene seems to be that it is becoming a business norm (and therefore additional cost) for larger processors, one that small processors may not be able to afford.

Kraft really went at DS when he anounced Ozemite.  First Kraft went out and registered the name Ozemite and then locked all the major brewerys into contracts that forbid them to sell the yeast by product used in Vegemite to anyone else.
