Got the new bike... 29ers are fast! Rolls really nicely on the single track locally, and not too unwieldy on the tight bits. 2x10 is a nice spread of gears off road, and pretty good on the road as well.

G'day all, possibly bit of a strange question for all you bike riders.

Went down the local bike shop yesterday & picked up a couple of old inner tubes to cut up for gaskets / seals & so on on the CT.

Cut the first one up & there's white powder inside the tube.

What would it be & why inside the tube  ???

Or, seeing that it's made in Thailand, should I be real careful in handling it, wash my hands well, & go down to have a chat with the  :police:   ;D

Its just talcum powder, nothing to be at all concerned about. Just stops the rubber sticking to itself and creating pinch points.

Thanks  :cup:

Thought it would be something like that but couldn't work out why it was inside the tube - thought it would be between tube & tyre  :-[

Scored today at my LBS http://www.summitcycles.bike/stores/melbourne

I dropped my new bike off last Saturday for it's first service and some tweaks. I had a look/try on of the new TLD A1 Drone MIPS helmet, didn't buy it as I wanted to do some research. Their price was $299, online it was $265.

Dropped in this morning to collect my bike and they were having a one day sale, spend over $200 and you could select one item for free from their 'special' section. Found a pair of TLD Skyline Race shorts ($140) that fitted.

In the end I spent $299 and got $400 worth of stuff, helmet and shorts :cup:

Only problem is I am crook with the flu and can't ride my bike to test it out :'(

It worked, too... ;D ;D

Hope that's the last time Jamie. They don't do anything you can't do yourself.
Despite all the hype and bling, it's just a simple pushie.
Turn it upside down on the seat and bars, and "service" away... :cup: :cup:

But you get to drool over all the bikes and pick the brains of the mechanics.

....the mechanics.

Where would they do their apprenticeship?
Are their qualifications nationally accredited?

The bike part manufacturers run their own training courses, dunno if their is a 'bike mechanic' cert

This is my third Stumpy and by far the best! I've owned this one now for two years and would find it hard to ride anything but 650B, the handling is amazing, it's a great all-rounder.
