Finally it's ready to be back on the road again. The only thing that isn't original, bit the NOS break levers that are for concealed cables.

I've been looking for an Eddy rider for ages. This popped up during the week so I jumped on it. It's an '89 era frame with a Campy Record 10 speed mid 2000 groupset. Rides like a dream.

I want to get a custom road frame made but the thing that is stopping me is the groupset. I'm rebuilding 30-40 year old bikes and they work as good as the first day they were made. If I get a custom made frame with a current electronic groupset, what happens if the spec changes or the battery dies and I can't get that battery in 10+ years time? When you're looking at $15-20K for a custom bike, I don't want to have to throw it away when the derailleur or battery dies...

BTW here's my latest frame 1995 Eddy Merckx Arcobaleno Team Gan

This is what the youngins of today just don't get! ;)

It's a pretty good reason to stick with a modern mechanical mech, hey?

Yes exactly and that is also my thinking but chains may play a part in the problem for the future also, with bloody 11sp & 12sp rears. I still run 10sp on both of my Road bikes and can't see the point of 11&12sp, whether it's mechanical or electric shift.  ???

Good eyes, it's for holding another bottle when I go adventure riding and don't know whether there is any water. I usually swap the water into one of the other bottles when they're empty as the top usually gets covered in crap.

Was surprised to see that my Scott Foil in race trim, is 300grms lighter than my Azzurri Sprint is.

Nice, I should weight my BMC. My Eddy comes in just under 10kg, good for training :)

Couldn't sleep last night and still haven't, so I got the chits and jumped on my Trek 29er for a 30klm ride. It was most enjoyable, even with the drizzle and wind.  ;D
