Proud Dad moment.
Our girls owning their own cattle after a few years of showing for the school cattle team in Maclean.

Two traditional Simmental steers they have been showing on the local show circuit.

The steers (in the pic) are just under 300 kilos, and have to get to at least 500 kg's to go to auction.

We are smiling because they have worked very hard to break them in and getting them to lead.  :cup:

Just looking at tomorrow's trip, & checking times & so on for a refuel stop at Bairnsdale.

Now the really big decision we have to make, is do we use the A1 at 47 min for 67.2k, or the A1 at 67.2k for 47 min ??? ::)

Yeah, something we've found over this trip is that C roads & caravans often aren't a real good mix! :'(

& even the A roads aren't always something to write home about!

So long as you have tried your best, you should have no regrets.

Fizzie

& when you decide that your F-250 FX4 Super Duty isn't quite big enough, what do you do ???

You put your tinny - & it's trailer!!! :o - up on the roof, of course!  ::)

Oh, & they were also towing the Vacationer Dakar that's in the background!, so I'm guessing that all up, that's close to $750k sitting there ???

After mentioning it on another forum, here's how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTgBPn9KYLo!

(Oops, sorry about the colour!)

But ...

He says that the trailer is 30kg & the rack is 70 = 100kg, then you have the boat at ~50kg, outboard at ~60, & "all his gear" (including an electric trolling motor, batteries etc, so lets call that another 50kg? ::)

All up, that's 260kg sitting on the roof!!! :o

I don't know just which car he has, apart from a Toyota dual-cab, but guessing at a HiLux, https://www.whichcar.com.au/toyota/hilux/accessories/roof-racks says: The HiLux's roof load limit is 75kg, and that weight has to include the weight of the rack. So if your rack weighs 30kg, that's 45kg of gear you can carry.

75 vs 260kg & Toyota 4wds have a high centre of gravity to start with! ::)

No, thanks! >:D

its actually sitting on the tray with the Ford..  So its actually 260kg distributed on 4 points of contact, so 65 kg on each.  Although its high up, and will drastically reduce fuel consumption, its probably well within the Fords load capacity (along with all the other stuff he has fitted to it).

If I were going to do something like that (which I have no interest in)  that type of vehicle would be my choice, not a Hilux/Ranger/Etc.
