Good and bad news

V8 is staying with a 'new' 4-cylinder to join the engine line-up.
Auto with the new 4-cycliner but no word on the wheel track.
Would assume that it will be corrected.

The 'new' 4-cylinder is from the HiLux.
Hybrid not currently in the line-up but sure it will follow.

I'm surprised the V8 wasn't ditched in favour of the new V6 but then oil usage issues have arisen so maybe not .

A 70 series with a 4 cylinder will be an under powered slug that will keep blowing up it's power plant
We get a few of the 4L petrol V6's out of Saudi over here every now and then
If your not prepaired to stand behind our troops
Then feel free to stand in front of them

Pressure to use a more fuel (and oil :) ) efficient motor will be the driving force.

They've been running the same width rear axle since 1985, why change that now. The 70 series have always been a parts bin car. Not much development happens.

I've been keen on a solid axle hilux since they canned them in 1997, I guess this is basically it.

But they widened the front track when they fitted the V8 and they should have widened the rear to match.

Yup, they widened the front track by using an 80 series housing. Minimal effort for maximum gain.

So long as you have tried your best, you should have no regrets.
