Our Jillsy has been nominated by one of her work colleagues for the Fred Hollows Foundation - Humanitarian of the Year Award.


She is going to embarrassed by me posting this here as she is still very overwhelmed by her nomination and that she is Qld's finalist for the award.


Those of you who have meet Jillsy (Jillian Alloway) Im sure you would agree that she is very caring person and always willing to go out of her way to helps other without a fuss of looking for recognition. Jillsy is also what I consider the BACKBONE of MySwag.org, working behind the scenes with Merchandise and helping out our Moderators or any members in need. I feel she is more than worthy for this award and Im asking you guys to vote for her or at least visit the Fred Hollows Foundation page and read about the awards and all the great work they do around the world. There is no monetary component with this award, just recognition for being a beautiful person.


Below is the nomination sent in by Jillsy work colleague Carrie.


I have never met someone so genuinely kind, thoughtful, caring & with such integrity. Jilly has worked for many years as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher for the QAS, helping people through what are sometimes the worst, most frightening moments of their lives, yet she has never become jaded, but is always compassionate to the core. If anyone in my family was hurt, frightened, dealing with a loved one dying or suicidal, Jilly is who I hope would be on the other end of the phone. And she's the same with her colleagues & friends. A friend of hers has recently had a motorcycle accident & is in an induced coma. Since he has no family or close friends, she has helped organise a group to pay his rent so he doesn't lose his house. She takes on extra tasks at work purely out of the goodness of her heart & is always not just ready to lend a helping hand, but is attuned to & always willing to comfort colleagues having a tough shift or life. She is truly one in a billion!

I have recently found out I am being interviewed by the local ABC radio presenter tomorrow...OMG!!! I don't do well with all this...this...ATTENTION...however I am going to take a deep breath and use it as an opportunity to promote the amazing work of Fred Hollows (ie turn the lime light off me and onto a truly special man).  Given the fact that our daughter is blind in one eye, I have a particular appreciation for people like Fred.
