Remember these things were around lots 10 odd yrs ago, but not much mention. Some twigs/leaves etc or some of those fuel pellets underneath, and quick boiled water.

Search shows a couple of hits here Troopy scored one at garage sale. Anyone got one still, handy for day or overnight trips?

Yeah, still got mine. Haven't used it in a while though. But yes it would be handy for overnights. Takes bugger all twigs to boil a litre (I think it is), and pretty quick too.

Haven't used it in the cold or emptied a canister yet, it was a godsend when we swagged it to the Cape in June. Made early coffee a breeze.

The Jetboil gas is fine in reasonably cold weather. We've used ours well into negative temp. Having a warm dehydrated meal on top of Kosciusko was bliss. They last for ages boiling  water due to their speed. Great bit of kit. 👍🏻

the small cylinders get an hour of run time. pretty good as it takes about 2 mins to boil a litre of water.

I got the Eco-Billy as a wedding present, must be 25 years ago now. Everyone got a kettle didn't they?

We used it a lot on day trips as you could get a hot drink in a few minutes for little effort.

I'd turn it upside down, stuff it full of twigs and leaf litter, put it on the ground right way up, add water and light it. That was usually enough to boil 1.5L of water. If we were staying longer, then drop some bigger sticks down the chimney and when you take the kettle away you have the basis of a camp fire.

It doesn't get much of a run these days, I mainly use the butane or dual fuel stove with a stove top whistling kettle. The bush kettle doesn't work very well on a burner. After moving to Qld, winter exploring isn't as cold either, so you're generally looking for a cool drink, rather than a hot one.

Surprising (and a little sad) how our camping style has changed. I've got one in the shed like the one in the picture...
but now days I just drop a pod in the nespresso as its easer and quicker
