There's no Great Evil conspiracy against consumers within engineering, manufacturing and supply. Just the many tradeoffs incurred to satisfy diverse tastes, priorities and wallets. But first comes all the insatiable Gummint eggsperts, nanny-staters and usual suspects.

Fire breaks out on ship carrying EVS
A major player in American shipping has issued a ban on electric vehicles following devastating fires at sea.

An American shipping company has banned electric vehicles from travelling on its vessels following a series of fires at sea.
The latest fire saw the Morning Midas car carrier burn at sea for three weeks with more than 3000 cars on board before capsizing and sinking to a depth of more than 16,000 feet near Alaska.
It follows similar incidents for car carriers such as the Fremantle Highway in 2023 and Felicity Ace in 2022.
All three ships were carrying a mix of electric, hybrid, and conventionally powered vehicles.

Matson, a company that specialises in shipping goods including vehicles between the US mainland, Hawaii, Guam and Alaska, surprised customers in July by declaring an EV ban.

And how did the fire start?
No word about it, must have been nothing to do with EVs.

They're still working on EV shortcomings with no guarantee they can fix them-
https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-news/forget-china-this-is-where-the-big-battery-breakthrough-is-coming-from-mercedes-benz

In any case being able to pour 800-1000kW of power into them safely in order to cut refuelling times is extremely costly in terms of user pays grid infrastructure to facilitate that. So best case scenario is retirees with off street charging owning one as an urban shopping trolley second car or the boss with tax deductible parking/charging at work taking advantage of the solar duck curve. Hybrid or PHEV for most to minimise the plant food taxes if the insurance underwriters aren't too usurious.

The floating inferno is said to have been caused by the lithium-iron batteries in the 70 electric vehicles on board – batteries that are can cause fires that can burn for weeks.

My comment should interpret as the EV's probably had a bit more than nothing to do with the fire.
Don't recall many car carriers burning and sinking before transporting EV $hit boxes.

Mainly because "Ship Catches Fire" doesn't make the news. "EV Ship Catches Fire", now there is a headline. No need to wait for the results of the investigation either.

Exactly.

Great line in your article: "The fire’s cause remains under investigation by Panama Maritime Authority with Dutch assistance. Early EV-related theories were dismissed as EVs were stored in unaffected areas."

That link shows many fires on board vessels but never mentioned in the news. Only when allegedly EVs are onboard, it will come into the news.
How biased can people be.
