Reasonably new to the world of podcasts, so whats out there that you would recommend.

I use Spotify to download music / podcasts so not sure if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance

Really depends on your interests.  My hubby loves Richard Fidler Conversations and Dr Karl. Me, I prefer the comedy radio shows like Hughesy & Kate, Sam Browny and Chrissie.  There's a few gardening ones I love too. There's a whole massive world of podcasts out there.

I also like Dr Karl. I also listen to a few from the How Stuff Works stable (Stuff You Should Know, Part Time Genius, Tech Stuff and a coupe of others). iMore is good if you are into Apple gear and Freakonomics Radio is also good.

I've been trying to find podcasts on Spotify that suit me for a while and haven't had a lot of success so far.

I travel a lot for work and listen to hours and hours of music on flights and long drives. But when you stay in 5 different hotel rooms in 5 different states and time zones in one week sometimes it's hard to unwind and sleep.
Alcohol helps ;) but not that sustainable week in, week out.

So far I've tried philosophy, ted talks, true crime, science and history podcasts.
Sadly none of these have been right for me...

Mine are mainly BBC podcasts downloaded via iTunes to an elderly iPod Classic.

-Boston Calling (also in a similar vein is the Alastair Cooke Letter from America)
-Business Daily
-Comedy of the Week
-David Baddiel Tries to Understand
-Friday Night Comedy
-From Our Own Correspondent
-The Infinite Monkey Cage
-More or Less (Behind the Statistics)
-People Fixing the World
-The World of Business
-50 Things that Made the Modern Economy

I have a few esoteric ones as well, such as Farming Today (again BBC, think a daily version of Landline), and Page 94 The Private Eye Podcast.

Also grab Blueprint for Living from the ABC,and Freakanomics.

Have you tried sleep mediation podcasts? It helps me when my mind is ticking over too much and can't sleep.  Some are a bit funny, but I'll do anything for a good nights sleep.

This has been me so far as well, hence why I put the call out.  In fact, not sure I like Spotify at all.  Any other alternatives now that Pandora is gone (isn't it???)

Have you tried any audio books?
Their very addictive whilst driving.

Yeah, mostly around Personal Development at this stage, but would be keen to expand on this.

I can't do podcasts. I guess that's just because I haven't found anything for me. Audiobooks? Better. Then again, I usually just have stuff on as background noise these days - radio or music when driving, doing housework, running, etc. I don't want anything I really have to focus on, just something to break the silence.

If you're interested in audiobooks check out what you can get through your local library online. You might be surprised...

Top podcasts I listen to are:
Makingit - youtube makers talking about making stuff and some random thoughts.
Macbreak Weekly - Apple focused tech and random thoughts.
Reply All - weird stuff that happens often originating from the internet.
Back to Work - kinda tech based, but often just amusing ramblings by two dudes.
Art of manliness - interesting interviews with people (mainly blokes) about a range of different things. They have usually just released a book.

If I listen to podcasts at bed time (which I usually do) I find that I fall asleep pretty quick....even though I want to listen to the whole thing haha. Which means sometimes I have to listen to the podcast several times to hear it all.

I mainly like the science type ones though...

Dr Karl
The Science Show
The Skeptics Guide to the Universe
The Naked Scientists
Radiolab
Life Matters (ABC Radio National)
Ockhams Razor
Future Tense
SpaceTime with Stuart Gary
Health Report
2015 LC Dual Cab
2017 Trakmaster Gibson

Listening to "the teachers pet" at the moment. Really well done and has sparked enough interest and new evidence in a murder/missing person case from years ago.

my wife is really into The Dollop. https://www.dolloppodcast.com/ The few I've heard were bloody hilarious.

Each episode centres around an event or person from history selected for its humorousness or peculiarity. Every week, comedian Dave Anthony reads a story to his friend, Gareth Reynolds, who has no idea what the topic is going to be about.

NOTE:
this is a language heavy grown up podcast.
