Hey all,

After lurking here for quite some time, reading a bunch of good threads, I figured I'd join and say Gday.
Long time, keen camper with a pile of awesome childhood memories of family camping trips throughout WA in the 1980's in a 1973 FJ40 SWB 2F Cruiser.
The cruiser eventually became mine and the 4WDing and camping continued with mates.
Had a bit of a hiatus from there, the cruiser is long gone and I have only tented it with my family since, with a couple of Hire trials mixed in (Camprite / Jayco)

Now, at 42 with young kids of my own I've decided to put the brakes on my wife's preference for overseas trips by investing in a new TX6 II to give the kids more of a taste of what our own country has to offer. She likes the idea and was keen on a van, but also liked the Camprites.
With my work requiring a pile of regional trips, it'll cop more work than play, but it has the perfect layout for both.
Rugged, dust-free Reliability is a priority, and I've got plenty of faith that the Camprite will deliver.
Reg, Matt & Tim at Camprite have been awesome (and very patient) since I first spoke to Matt over a year ago, periodically dropping in to the shop and various shows ever since.
Gotta love the local aspect of their business too.

Hoping for an early-mid August delivery, with Karijini, GRR and El Questro planned for ASAP afterwards.

Will post some pics when it arrives :)

Welcome Dizz

You wont regret the purchase one bit.

We picked up our new TX6 July last year and have just returned from a 14 week road trip from Perth to North QLD through the middle and back across the top with the family (7 and 4 yr old boys.). Trip report to come!!

Camper performed amazing and not one single issue. Easy to tow and we love the fact that the beds are made and it sets up on itself so you can park it anywhere allowing a bit of room for the rear step to get in and out.

Regards

Mark

Hi Mark,

That sounds like an awesome trip.
Make sure you post plenty of pics !

I've heard nothing but good stuff about the Camprites - and our rental trials were great.

Is yours the Signal Blue one on the Camprite FB site ?

goog choice in camper - yep Im a little biased ;D

Dizzy

Thanks again guys.
Well, I picked it up last week after a few manic days making room in the garage.
My measurements were spot on : 20ft boat and camper fit end-to-end with clearance and 100mm to spare and the Disco in there too.
Now to get it dirty !

Haha, and probably down a few notches in many others' books :P
What tyres are you running on yours ?
I'm on the verge of downsizing to 17" rims to try and get 265/70 R17 on.
An extra inch+ of sidewall for better bagging over the 265/60 R18.
It's performs well in sand on the 18s, but need to be at least 3-5psi lower than usual.

I'm running 265/65/17 on mine. Standard size for a few toyotas so hopefully a common size availability wise. Just need to make sure you don't go to big to cause clearance issues when the suspension is fully lowered as some system faults will do it. Last thing you need when cruising on the highway and that happens. Hasn't happened to me but it did to the bloke I brought my bull bar from - resulted in some extra guard damage and an additional flat tyre.

Thanks for the Info.
I stood the 265/70 R17's up against the Current Disco tyres and note a significant difference in diameter.
I doubt the spare will fit, so might need to do the 265/65 too ............ although sidewall increase is only marginal (1/2") over the current 265/60 R18s

What bar have you got ? - I'm favouring the OL at the moment.
Mainly because of the Parking sensor compatibility and availability ........... ARB apparently have a 6 week wait list for installation  ???
I've been putting it off for 10 years - but won't be able to avoid some dawn / dusk / night driving with the trips we've got planned, so need some Roo defence.

Arb bar for me. But I don't have any front sensors to worry about.
