Hi Another question-In the fridge box the 240V outlet has a spring loaded plastic tab that presses on the plug pins when seated-my problem is it should push out of the way as the plug enters the socket-is there a technique, as i cant plug the fridgein. I pulled it apart and it works ok-jim

Not sure what you mean, some sockets have safety covers that cover the active and neutral
holes when the plug is removed, you need a three pin plug on these sockets, is this what
you are describing? A pictures worth a thousand words.

I found out there was a product problem so i sorted a go around by bending the terminals a little

after dissassembly it was a spring loaded cover that slides inside the switch when the plug is removed-by bending the terminals slightly to the right it helped a little to allow the pins to move the gaurd as the pins enter-jim

they are called shutters and are designed to stop items being pushed into the pins. as stated above they require an earth pin to open otherwise they require a fair bit of work to get a 2 pin plug to get into them
