Down to a Cat 1 now and seems to have pulled up a fair way off the Coast, looks like it will sit there for the Weekend before heading North. I think wind and waves will be about the extent of the effects.

Bye bye cyclone Oma,  Ya Bin bandit old bitch, Promised us all a decent wet blow job and only gave  a salutary puff and drizzle as you turned and run away,  Short changed us on the rain we were supposed to get, 30 mm out of 300 + is something at least I guess ...
Now onto the next apocalyptic event of the week so the Gnat brained media and local governor Bleeters and Dooms dayers,  can scare more of the mindless unwashed Sheeple ..

I wouldn't rule out it coming back yet....

Remember, years and years ago, we had a cyclone that behaved like a drunk walking up a steep driveway.

Yeah, If it finds a nice warm deep patch of ocean it could spin up again, A few of lows pushing up from the Southern areas with a warm front might help in the mix too .

You've got a lot to answer for with your "Making everything secure". It's so dry here I've started watering my cactus.

I'm having my morning coffee, looking out at a cloudless sky, with the lightest of a cool morning breeze...............and cursing like a drunk sailor cause I'd cancelled our weekend camping due to the forecast. The reporters in raincoats said we'd be having 10m waves at Beaudesert and 85 feet of rain blowing sideways from the 7000km winds.................curse the bastards.

Same sort of morning here.... really nice.

A mate from the Sunny coast has cancelled a week-end at Somerset for the same reasons.

Oh well, i'd been putting off checking the roof, at least now its done.

more often then not they have the forecast right several days beforehand, it's why I frequent that forum over reading the likes of Hollywood Higgens Facebook page or listening to the media beat up an event like they do.

Weatherzone forum saying it's as good as dead, Cat 1 by morning they are saying and it's struggling to intensify due to the size of it's eye and no evidence of dry air entertainment (track map says Cat 2 still though).....will see how much rain it brings though,  hope some places that need it get a drink

which was wrong, guess that's the thing with forums, plennty of opinions, sorting out the ones worth listening too is the trickey bit, the Weatherzone forum consensus is likely to be more accurate more often than those who have financial incentives in sensationalising it though.

the thing was dying, it didn't go Cat 1 that next morning but was dying...may not of been 100% in thier call, but was alot closer then the doom and gloom predictions  the news channels / weather guys they have continued on with the next 2 days, and then continued to tell everyone we'd get bucketloads of rain....some places got shower or two, we didn't even get a single spit of rain at my place.

Just looking at JTWC http://www.metoc.navy.mil/jtwc/jtwc.html & they also say a chance of Oma spinning back up. They're also watching another low out Fiji way

Fair enough, I didn't really see any media coverage of it so don't know what they were saying. The models I saw at that stage though showed it pull up further from the coast with no real rainfall, and it hanging there for a day or two before weakening and moving North which is what happened. The models aren't perfect but out to about 3 day's are generally pretty accurate. Further out than that everyone is pretty much just guessing, computer models included, but at least they normally show a low level of certainty as well.

For Christ's sake, its gotta rain out here soon.... please.

To this date last year, 254.2mm of rain.
To this date this year, 11.2mm of rain.

We get a tad more heat out here than Brisbane, and i'm pretty sure, yesterday was the first day this summer, we dipped under 30 degrees.
The grounds here are shot to hell at the moment.

I can't help but think, when we get rain, we'll really get RAIN.
