Some guys over on the Overlander forum organized one a few years back. They set a $3000 budget for a vehicle to get to the tip and back.

It was all very informal, most made it all the way home, some in better mechanical condition than others.

..and I've gotta say, it was one of the better trips I've ever done.  ;D Made heaps of new friends, and the satisfaction of keeping a Shitbox running for that length of time was immense.  :cup:
