Over Wheel Step - Pros & Cons

I am interested in getting a 4wd Over Wheel Step for our Ute.  The ute has a 2in lift kit and whilst camping it is a little bit difficult to unpack the camping gear in the middle of the tray so was considering getting one of these steps.  I see there are so many versions.  Adjustable types, different types of foot treads, vary in prices etc etc.  Also I notice that our wheel is slightly under the tray of the ute, so will there be enough tread outside of the tray to make it worthwhile.  I look forward to some feedback from those that own and use one.

I use one when I have the roof rack on. Think mine came from Supercheap. Does the job. The step itself sits on the outside of the tyre so can't see the tray getting in the way.

Ive had one i got on ebay for about 40 bucks,it folds flat and fully adjustable.
Great for reaching the roof racks and also working under the bonnet

Only issue I could see is another thing to find space to pack.... but does give you two hands free unlike balancing on the wheel holding on with one hand while trying to pack up.

I purchased one from Rays about $40 - $45. Don't use it a great deal but it's invaluable when needed - as said previously saves balancing on top of tyre and trying to hold on and strap things down.

If youve got a lift and need to work in the engine bay makes life truck loads easier.

Hmm.. I'm 6'4", could never be accused of being vertically challenged, and I need one to safely load my roof rack..

I have one but have never used it! I find with my Prado it is just as easy to
stand on the rear tyres to access the roof rack and saves having to unpack the
the step. I won't be taking the step on my next trip.

It depends what I'm carrying. If I have the camper then the roofrack has a spare tyre, jerry cans and a space case so no need for the step.
If I'm tenting it then I have the Oztent and accessories, space case, and a gear bag with bedding etc in it. That's when I need the step.
